If we can just shift Faes and hope we don't offer Soumare and Daka an extension then this is a very good window.

Can somebody tell me, are we going to have 9 premier league teams in Europe?? Or 10 with Chelsea win the conference.
I thought you could only have so many.

Wonder how much Vardy just made drinking that red bull and showing it to the camera.

I can’t do it in one sentence but here’s a breakdown that hopefully helps
What changed? The EFL updated financial rules (Profit & Sustainability) for Championship clubs from the 2025/26 season to better manage clubs moving between the Championship and Premier League.
Key points:
March (each season):
Clubs must send an estimate of their finances for the current season and the two before it, even if they were in the Premier League.
December (after season ends):Clubs must send their audited accounts and final financial report to the league they are currently in (EFL or Premier League).
Stronger enforcement:The EFL can now apply penalties from the Premier League, and vice versa.
Early intervention:
If a club looks like it will break the rules, the EFL can act early — e.g., require a business plan or force player sales in the next transfer window (June).Possible future rule:
Clubs are discussing a Squad Cost Ratio, which would limit player spending to a percentage of a club’s income (like the system the Premier League is testing).I appreciate this post. No way this can happen though surely, because the efl can just say we want to see your finances because we think you're going to break the rules. I.e us because we embarrassed them.

I'm a bit thick, can somebody sum this up for me in one sentence.

I always wondered why a league 1 club spent so much money and why he dropped down two leagues, seemed like a big risk for both parties but had a great season. Think he'll do the same again next season inthe championship.

In his defense he was expecting to be able to bring in players in January, he said needed them, he said that the players are not good enough, so he basically been let down on all fronts, he been sold a lie to come to this club.
On that basis would you be bothered, he probably hopes the club do sack him so he get a pay off and escape this nightmare 😂 😂 🤣
I do wonder what he was promised.
He wouldn't come here with no transfer funds or even if the board said we'll sell players and you can use that money because you don't know if players would sell.
I personally would still give him a season in the championship. Ship some out, bring his own players in and own staff.

It's hard to fully blame the manager when our entire defense is awful. Ayew and Reid are terrible. Vardy can't seem to finish, Soumare is even worse.
Great managers like Pep couldn't even get us a win. However, I'm going to eat my words from months a go and say I wish we kept Cooper.

I'd like to think Okali and Bilal give us one season in the championship.

Does anyone understand this transfer yet? Totally bizarre and adds nothing to the squad.
I can only guess that all previous Tottenham managers said such positive things about him that Rudkin shot his bolt and thought he was getting a future England captain.
If he was 10m we'd say hmm we tried but it didn't work. I bet they couldn't believe it when they seen our offer.
-
I can only assume they believe we're going down and the team is enough to get back up. I just don't understand how Rudkin can look in the mirror and think he's doing a good job.
On a side not, as I know different clubs have different rules. Who's responsible for our signings this , Rudkin or Cooper?

Ahh close thread.
What Tier would this guy fall under???

We make jokes because he's not great in the premier league but he'll likely do very well in America. For 25m they could have a decent striker for the next 5-7 years.

Stolarcyk, Skipp, Winks, Coady, Ndidi, JJ, Vestergaard, Daka will probably stay. None have proven themselves good enough or ready to play top flight football yet but would help form a handy Championship side. I wouldn't lose sleep on any of them leaving though.
Fatawu and El Khannouss I'd be disappointed to lose, I'd hope being young they'd give us a season in the Championship.
Faes, Mavididi, Kristiansen, Mads, Soumare, Okoli we'll actively try to sell but their stock won't be high (Mads maybe, but his stats won't look good in an RvN side shipping goals for fun)
Unlike 2 seasons ago, where we did actually have some players that were better than the Championship. This season, aside from 1 or 2, the players that think they're better than the club are probably the 1's who's exit will be celebrated the most.
Totally agree with the majority of this, what concerns me is everybody can see that a lot of players need to go and I'd much rather have a shit season with an average team rather than straight back up with this team. Apart from Skipp those players blew a 10+ points lead.

Enlighten me as to why a group of players that have, now twice, been proven incapable of PL level football would think that a) they're better than us and b) somebody better would want to buy them?
A) International players tend to believe they're too good for the championship, especially if that team is likely going to get a spanking for psr.
B) The bar is set pretty low for clubs to be better than us. I genuinely believe we'd struggle against Leeds, Sheffield United and Burnley away.
If we go down, I can't imagine there'll be to many players who want to stick around this time. Just my opinion, you'd expect Vestergaard, Faes, Kristianson will want to play higher ready for the world cup, Soumare would want out again, Ndidi in fairness is better than the championship, Winks in his final year, Coady clearly wants to be a pundit.
The only 4 I see as guarantees are Fatawa because he'd be a huge risk, Ayew and Bobby Reid at the end of their career on high wages and Skipp because nobody will want to pay what we want.
-
What baffles me is there is no contingency plan of going down with a transfer embargo. If Daka wanted to leave then we're playing with Ayew up front. Which isn't a problem for championship level but they can't be daft enough to think players will want to stay.

Different result if Vardy had his shooting boots on? On that basis is it arguably a good performance, i.e., we created the chances from open play to win.
Clutching at straws here.
It was a good performance and I thoroughly enjoyed the first half. It pains me to say it but we need a new striker, and a left winger who scores goals. I always think we can get away with a decent player on the wing I.e Facundo who doesn't score so many if the opposite flank has a goal scorer.
Side note, would love Marcus Edwards.
-
Wouldn't mind Leeds at home. Nice to see what this squad can do against a top Championship side. Would also be nice to see what the gap is like between bottom of the premier league and top of the championship.
I do wonder if we won the fa cup and got a Europa league spot and relegated, with the possible scolding down there, would the powers to be find away to try and get us out of Europe.

Transfer embargo when we go down. Or did you mean 2026
I wondered, does a embargo mean we can't sell players? Because surely with this squad and the out of contract players gone, we'll fly back up even with a points deduction.

Who's 32+ and out of contract in the summer so we can sign up on a ridiculous long term contract?
Danny Ward. 🙄

Hadn’t given it much thought until tonight but 5 of Forests front 6 all came from other PL sides. 7 of their 11 came from other PL sides. We rarely sign players from the PL. I understand why. But it does show you the benefit of buying players who are already at the level.
They are out there and sadly we don't seem to take advantage off it. One example always springs to mind, Pulisic cost just shy of 20m, he's now valued at double that, can play right wing and attacking midfield.
We somehow spend 25m+ on Skipp, 8m on Ayew. You see more and more these days that players at top clubs would rather play for a team further down if it means guaranteed game time.

Depends what he costs tbf.
Having a browse on their forum, they think he's worth minimum 20m and Tom Cannon in return.
If Cannon is worth say 10m, you could probably sign somebody like Schick for 30m!

I know this is a silly question and probably answered thousands of times here, but do we think the players read this forum? Because surely that must be awful to read thousands of comments slating you!! Thankfully he's got hundreds of thousands of pounds to keep him busy.

If we go down I don't think we'll go down again, with Ben Nelson, Wanya, Mcateer, Alves and even the likes of BDCR, Thomas and Cannon sticking around, it should be enough to keep us up regardless of a points deduction, and then recharge for the 26/27 season for a championship push.

Cole Palmer. I don't even think our strikers could miss the goal if the ball is put on a plate for them.
