  1. It changed my life in ways I could never have foreseen. It took me from my love of the game slipping away to becoming utterly committed to a football club. We haven't had too much joy this season, and it hurts more when we lose. Once we get it right, it will mean the world. Great question. Non-league Football is virtually the only thread I read on Foxestalk these days. Merry Christmas, everyone.
  2. Better than not having a team to support at all!
  3. The sentence ‘I don’t like Banbury’ seems fair.
  4. The magic of the FA Cup. Looks like it was a belting game of footy. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/cp35w9de927t
  5. And we ended the league leaders 100% home record. We were superb today. Defended from front to back and our GK, Tomasz, probably put in the best performance I've seen from him. 3 consecutive wins in league and cup now.
  6. Coalville beat Step 5 Romulus to advance to the FA Vase 2nd Round. It was a decent game and a good team performance. We're away at the league leaders next week.
  7. Why? Just interested. If I was at that level I’d be doing everything I could to improve.
  8. I could be wrong but I don’t think football is his priority. Decent player though.
  9. The management have started to stabilise the squad. It's about having people with the right mentality as much as it's about ability. 4 unbeaten in the league now with a big game next Saturday against Lutterworth Town in the Vase. I still have to remind myself that we were very close to not having a team at all.
  10. Coalville picked up their first away win of the season 1-0 at Retford United. Retford's pitch is the best grass surface I've seen in non-league. It was immaculate.
  11. Some of the recent additions have really shone. I missed my first league game in 5 years on Saturday, but Leo got a lot of praise. It'd be great to see a decent crowd for the Vase game. It'll be a good test for us on and off the pitch.
  12. It was last season in the FA Trophy. We went 3-0 after 15 minutes or so, and then proceeded to lump the ball for the next 75 minutes.
  13. Tom got my vote for MOTM.
  14. Wes is a real grafter, a fan-pleaser, and skilful, too.
  15. We're in the Vase. Lutterworth Town or Pinchbeck United at home Sept. 21st. Personally, I think it's a sensible rule. It encouarages clubs to become sustainable.
  16. We were unlucky not to get something out of the game in the last 25 minutes, but I think your point is valid. We need another striker to help out Ronnie Morley, and an experienced CB who can direct the others around him. I still think we'll get there and patience is going to be required. I think it's a case of assess where we are after 9/10 games.
  17. Coalville fell to a 4-0 defeat away at Staveley Miners Welfare today. All four goals came in the second half after an even first period. The second half was a tough watch at times, but perspective is needed. The players have only been together for around 6 weeks. Another tough away trip awaits on Tuesday at Clifton All Whites.
  18. The attendance was brilliant. We couldn't have asked for much more other than a positive result, but even that was secondary. I thought the day was a complete success. The squad is young and they will take time to gel, but the sprinkle of local lads in the side is exactly what was required. The supporters will need to show patience.
  19. Mickleover is all 4 sides now. This probably changed when Derby Ladies started playing there. Similar to how LCFC invested in Holmes Park when they hosted the U21's. Where can Nomads realistically relocate to?
  20. True. Perhaps Stourbridge get an exemption because they share the space with the cricket club.
  21. I've been told they'll need to move the floodlights and the pitch over if they get promoted. Apparently, ground regulations at Step 4 dictate that all four sides of the pitch must be able to accommodate spectators. The new Coalville have impressed me so far. The players have given their all in pre-season, and considering they've only played a couple of 90 minutes as a squad, we look good. There's been some exciting attacking football, and once we get a more settled 11, I think we'll be competing well. We have our last friendly tomorrow at Stapenhill before we kick off for real next Sunday lunchtime. Hopefully, with it being part of the Groundhop weekend, there should be a sizeable crowd.
  22. Aylestone looked good second half against Sutton Coldfield last Saturday. The budget they have at this level is crazy.
  23. They've spent a decent wedge on him, so I hear.
