Putnam’s back. Cook’s in and young Gooch makes his first start. Let’s have a win!
-
I assume so. Nobody knew what was wrong with him.
-
He's had appendicitis. He was there today, but he's another 2-3 weeks away from being fit. You missed another lacklustre performance first half. Stratford hit the bar twice and had two other very good chances. For the first 10 minutes of the second half it was all Coalville. Shaw should've scored but contrived to hit the bar from 6 yards. Once Stratford scored we lost all momentum and only regained it after the second goal. Again, schoolboy defending. I thought Stratford deserved the win. Young McGlinchey looked assured when he came on, but we missed Putnam terribly today.

Max Brogan.

You really are a fountain of joy.
-
I’ll be present if it’s on.
-
It is. The third McGlinchey to become a Raven (albeit on loan). Rushden's run of good form at the end of last season coincided with Roddy joining them.

We were excellent 2nd half of last season up until the last 3/4 games when the nerves kicked in. After 17 games last season we'd amassed 9 wins, 5 draws and 32 points. We're only 1 win and 7 points worse off this season, but unfortunately the standard of teams in the league is higher. We need to average 2 points p/game over December to stay in touch and not leave ourselves a real mountain to climb.
-
Certainly more then they'd be paid at Coalville. I've been waiting for the 4/5 game winning streak all season. We took 4/12 points through November, which makes an already tough December even harder and more crucial to our season.

They once had 13,500 in that ground for an FA Amateur Cup QF. The worst part for me is the ridiculous narrow gap between the fences at one end.
-
The pitch at one end is about 3 feet lower than the other.
-
Everton once paid £13m for Niasse.

You would think the takeover is contigent on Nuneaton being allowed back in to LW.

But Michael Doyle has never played at the level and maybe had no intention to manage in non-league. Most ex-pros want to stay within the professional environment. I know he's just an example, but last season Kevin Horlock managed a respectable 17th place finish. If we're just after ex-pros with contacts who have lived and played in the area we'll end up with Tim Flowers. The club did try to get some players on loan from Leicester in the summer but the wages were just too high. On a positive note, Ben Hart will be back at some point next month and will make a difference.
-
Maybe, but we lost the league title on goal difference to a team that's now top of the National League North. Maybe a better manager would've got us over the line, and if Andy Peaks had been at Coalville, we may well have won the league. If you get rid of Stevo, who do you bring in?
-
Sudbury were well-drilled tonight, passed the ball well and defended robustly.. Adam Mills is an excellent signing for them. It's hard to argue against Stevo's record - league finishes have improved every season. However, his decision making at vital moments seems lacking. The GK situation at the start of this season was farcical and cost us. We haven't brought in a a genuine box-to-box midfielder to replace George Wilson, and the substitutions at times are baffling, or too late to have a meaningful impact. I wouldn't say a change is needed, but we can't afford any more performances and results like tonight.
-
Should've changed shape to match them up. They didn't have any oustanding individuals, except for Adam Mills who was probably the best player on the pitch. They started fast, got the goal and then just made us run for most of the first half. As soon as we started to get a grip in the game they countered and carved us open again. We were overan in midfield and outfought all across the pitch. Just making like-for-like substitutions shows how one-dimensional Stevo can be. Tonight was as bad as Needham and Nuneaton. How many bad days can we have? There's no doubting the talent in the squad, but the application and game-plan is lacking far too often this season. To my mind, we've ground out one league win this season against Redditch at home. It's either feast or famine with us currently.

13/15. I've been to 9 of those grounds.

Good cup tie down at Owen Street today. Coalville probably deserved to go through on the balance of play. Joe Doyle-Charles was sent off late on. I'm not sure if it's for pulling the Boston players braids or for giving the supporter a clip around his bobble hat. Either way, it's not a great look and he might face more than a three game ban.

Rushden were terrible when we played them away last season. I'd say on a par with Berkhamsted & Long Eaton. We've only had one really poor half in the last 6 games away at Hitchin. I do think we look more solid and Pennant has made a significant difference since coming into the side.
-
I think we must’ve read the same article. He sounds promising.

Coalville have signed midfielder Callum Burkey on dual-reg from Basildon. He was at Southend, joined Basildon in November '22 and has already captained them and won Chairman's Player of the Year. Hopefully, he's a similar player to George Wilson.
-
Another superb solo effort from Beck-Ray Enoru. This lad must be getting a move soon.

There's some very good goals in the highlights from Coalville's win on Saturday. The new camera is also infinitely better than the awful VEO camera.
