  1. It’s a fierce rivalry apparently.
  2. I was working from a memory of having previously thought there were 5 or 6! So thinking about it again now to come up with names, I've got Rantala and Mace in addition to Momiki, then Leitzig, Kees and Las just a bit below them. I still rate Leitzig but she seems more replaceable as time goes on. She's a bit tied to the goal-line and not great with the ball at her feet but still makes some great saves.
  3. There are only 5 or 6 players from last season I'd consider a loss if they went. That's the first of them gone.
  4. There’s a reason I watch women’s football as a neutral (other than the Lionesses) and don’t support City Women - I don’t want to put all my emotional eggs in one basketcase of a club!
  5. Very firm favourites to finish last at this point. No one else is even close. Might be able to beat the third placed team from WSL2 in the play off though.
  6. I spent all my working life with the same company which made things easier in terms of getting them to agree to changing my work pattern as they didn’t want to lose my experience and basically gave me particular tasks then left me alone to get them done. After about 25 years of full-time work I moved to a four day week and always took Fridays off. I then went to different work patterns for a while (as little as 20 hours a week at one point) but went back up to 4 days because I realised I was close to being in a position to retire and wanted to get there quicker. That time I took Wednesdays off and it was even better - I never had to work more than two days in a row which made things easier when the job seemed a slog. I retired nearly a year ago at 54. Five days a week would have got me there even quicker of course, but I couldn’t face full-time after years of part-time. Reading this back makes me realise I was a work shy little sod!
  7. I don’t think I’ve ever screamed so loudly as I did at that goal. In one way meaningless, in another it’s everything.
  8. Ale has comfortably been the most improved player this season. Early on I thought that would be Goodwin but she soon went off the boil. Realistically most of the players need to go as very few are up to standard, but that can't happen because it will be difficult to recruit the required quality to a club that's been poor ever since promotion. At this point it seems the best Leicester can hope for is to continue circling the plug hole. It's impossible to think of a team more likely to be relegated next season though.
  9. There isn't even Europe for 4th.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the owners have money but haven't been able to invest in the men's side due to FFP/PSR/whatever acronym it is these days. The women's team don't have that consideration so they could invest more but haven't done so which suggests a lack of will. Meanwhile Birmingham have equalised against London City - one more goals and they get promoted instead.
  11. I'd say it depends on whether Leicester start taking the women's team seriously or not.
  12. London City Lionesses are getting promoted. Leicester need to hope there is no relegation next season or they're toast.
  13. As much as the WSL needs expanding, there really isn't enough depth of quality. This is two Championship teams playing in the WSL.
  14. Good game for the neutral, I enjoyed that. I didn’t think either penalty was the right call, but difficult to say for sure with only one camera angle.
  15. I was getting my information from Sky Sports News. Rookie error, should have done my own research! It seems there are various options still being discussed and SSN went down the clickbait route by picking out one aspect and not supplying context. Even if they do choose to expand the divisions, I still think removing relegation would be the wrong way to go about it. There has to be some jeopardy or large chunks of the season will be pointless.
  16. I believe the idea is that by removing the threat of relegation clubs will be more inclined to invest in their WSL sides. I think it will have the opposite effect and remove any incentive to invest as the top 4 are likely to remain the same for years and if you can't be relegated why would you do more than the bare minimum? The result will be even more meaningless games than we have now, and we have plenty already as the relegation spot is generally a foregone conclusion. It would also kill off investment below the WSL if there is no possibility of reaching it. It's a terrible idea. The league should be extended to 16 teams as 22 matches is too few, and there should be more promotion/relegation places. There doesn't seem to be any suggestion of expanding the league currently.
  17. And the other centre half going to close down Toone to leave Thibaud exposed.
  18. Clash of heads. Didn't look too serious but a bit of an egg on her forehead.
  19. I'm not a fan of Sophie Howard but she played very well today other than conceding a couple of unnecessary corners early on. It makes a huge difference to the team to have a proper centre forward, even though she had a pretty mixed day individually.
  20. 3 in one game!
  21. Goal of the season.
  22. The goal was disallowed for offside despite what the commentator said.
  23. Villa were the better side before the goal but have gone to pieces since it.
  24. Just to complete the set, I think Villa will win 2-0, though Villa's defence do shoot themselves in the foot quite often so Leicester might be gifted one.
  25. I've gone from 'I won't watch this' to 'maybe just the first quarter' to 'I'm staying til the end' to 'I'm going to watch this again in the morning'.
