Yes. At the time before Ruud took over he was readily available. I’m not suggesting him coming to us now it was reported that we were interested in him after Cooper left.

Wasn’t Svensson in the running for it before Cifuentes got it? Or was he just a foreign name to put out there to make us look like we’d actually looked outside of this country? I seem to remember Niko Kovac being in the running before Ruud got it.

Look how long it took us to appoint him. We are so reactive rather than being proactive. If we sacked him today we wouldn’t have anyone in for over a week. I bet we haven’t even approached anyone else yet.

I know it’s extremely easy saying it now but Cifuentes should have set his stall out at the start of the season and build it around the young players. Stolarczyk, Nelson, Monga, Alves, Page and Evans should have been the nucleus of the team and add that with some experience within the squad. The fans would have respected him more for showing some bollox and doing something different instead of just going for the tried and tested experienced shit player’s. Our best cb this season has been Nelson and he’s only played 1 and half games in the league. Says it all really.

Whoever comes in has nothing to prove especially with the points deduction. It’s a win win situation for whoever comes in.

Our short term reactive approach would definitely see us going for Farke if he becomes available. With where we are currently and how shit we are I wouldn’t be surprised if we tried to get Gerrard. A big name with something to prove and the hope he has the same impact as Lampard has had at Cov.

That’s just the English equivalent of Cifuentes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t try and go a similar route like with Maresca type appointment who’s currently an assistant if/when Cifuentes goes. Johnny Heitinga - Wasserman client. Giovanni Van Bronckhurst - assistant at Liverpool. Zsolt Low - assistant at Chelsea and Bayern Munich when Tuchel was there. Not that convinced with any of them but could see us looking at them.

Ex players rarely do well returning to manage a club they’ve played for. Really don’t understand why anyone would want King to take over.
