Because of Nigel Pearson. If there is a rebuild on the cards it should involve him imo. That guy knows how to build a sustainable football club on a limited budget.
-
That happened because we tried to compete. If you are happy for your club to sit mid table at best then that's fine! Personally I want to see us in something! Other than the big six none of this other clubs have won anything. I do agree that spending over 100% of your turnover on wages is bad but that based on a forecast of more turnover based on a elite manager and previous consistent top 10 finishes it's not completely unreasonable. The club have ****ed up but for a club pushing to break into a new level it's a risk, it's a fine line between success and failure. It can easily happen to any of the non big six clubs there with a few bad decisions which to me says the rules are broken. If top wants to lose 100 million a year and can afford it, surely that's his business? Not EPL or Premier League. Man City have 115 breaches, Chelsea 1.8 billion in debt, United 700 million, Spurs 800, whys that allowed? All football clubs really are a joke, only the big six can ever hope to have tge turnover to buy the best players, the rest have to sell at whatever lowball price the big six determine to stay in the rules themselves. There will never be a 90 mill transfer again.
-
We didn't actually vote for it, I'm surprised anyone voted for it. The whole thing is frankly broken though, it doesn't allow for nearly 10% inflation last year for example and 5/6% the year before. Yes the club has made errors but underlying costs in any business have grown a lot in the past few years.
-
An investor is gonna want something, what does a club 200 million in debt, a best likely to yoyo, at worse a stint in League 1/2 give?
-
I don't like Rudkin, he's failed and should have been gone years ago. What do the fans actually want though? Stoke are complying with FFP as that's what the rules allow, will our fans be happy with that because reality is, that's where we are at competency or not if we comply with shit rules designed to protect an elite, the fans are fighting the wrong people.
-
I'm not sure they are that competent. Have Everton had the 2nd deduction yet?
-
It is definitely next year, probably for 3 years in reality. So I suppose the question is, if the points deduction is limited do we just say **** it and spend what we need and hope we accumulate 9 points or whatever? The rules need to change, its not sustainable. They are effectively make any non big six club that makes a mistake insolvent and unselable. If the owner pack up, Leicester city cease to exist in any form, unless some has a magic wand? Who is sinking 300 million+ I to something unlikely to make any return in 5 to 10 years...noone! Our fans are deluded!
-
So what's your solution? Who buys this club, who takes 200 million debt? And no hope of competing due to rules?
-
We are insolvent. Get 9 points deduction, get relegated to league 1 and stay there forever meeting the FFP and PSR rules like a good little club, selling any glimour of talent to a big six club mortgaged to the hilt by a foreign state.
-
But this is for last year on the back of European seasons, questionable if the squad was needed, or the club could argue it was for an attempt to compete. Is expanding the stadium going to do much if we cant fill it? If we aren't competing which FFP won't allow us to, our current stadium is big enough. The club had an ambitious costed plan for expansion of the stadium and associated facilities but it can't happen overnight. There's a fine balance between showing ambition and not, some of our transfer business has been questionable since we won the league but if the club hadn't shown ambition the fans would complain. I have the feeling as Newcastle are proving FFP is dumb and unworkable. As it stands the big clubs can buy the best players, poach the best youth, have the most revenue that just grows each year, its broken. There has been dome mismanagement at the club and some heads should role but it's such a fine line and a few errors away from being in a bad position.
-
FFP and PSR are a sack of shit it needs scrapping. I hope a good lawyer ****s it over, its footballs only hope. Continue on this path and a dying game complete dies.
-
But really what alternative? Comply and never complete? If the clubs owner wants to spend 200 million why can't they? Why is us losing 200 million any worse that Man Utd having a 700 million mortgage? If anything given their history that's worse but allowed.
-
To be honest we might as well just spend 200 million and just take whatever the maximum deduction is. Just make sure we get good players.
-
What would it take to turn on the owners?

Well the club has to be a saleable asset, currently it isn't. Likely to be hit with point deduction for the next few years, Championship Club. You'd have to be some salesman to sell this sack of shit, the rules make it insolvent if the Top 'leaves' not covering the debts like now. There ain't no businessman coming in buying the club for say 100 Mill and clearing 200 mill debt, its just not happening when he's getting no return over 10 years. Literally these dumb rules will kill football, we might be the first club to die but blame the owners not the authorities for punishing those daring to dream. -
Brighton already have Debts of 400 million. I'm wondering how teams like Brentford and Bournemouth compete full stop with generally less revenue. The games broken, the rules are stupid.
-
The bigger question given the stupid rules. Who comes in and: A) writes of 200 million debt B) sells the best players C) can't compete for decades due to the stupid rules, reality is a stint in League 1, due to points deductions when we don't go up this year. D) pays an amount to top to meet his valuation The rules really make considering football a poor business choice, you can't really make money or complete unless you go up and down each year.
-
I am not sure the 2 things can be done under the ridiculous shity big six rules. You either complete and get shafted or comply and don't complete, thems the rules. It's bullshit.
-
I'm still struggling to understand how a change of ownership helps? So we are sold to yankdoodle.com who can't invest or buy any players, firstly the rules make the club unselable, any new owner has no real hope of competing for 3 years unless we sell every decent player we have. The rules a ****ing stupid, its not up to the EFL or Premier league to decide who can or can not spend money. For example Man Utds mortgage is 500 million, Chelsea 1.8 billion, spurs 800 million, Brighton 400 million, Newcastle similar, Liverpool 200 Mill, West Ham 100 mil. Villa probably up there. Football is broken.
-
What is a sound footballing business plan? Submit to our mighty masters the big 6? Football is done. If the owners want to subsidise a 90 million loss, they can, its up to them if its done in fully covered. No other business in the world can restrict investment.
-
Who the hell is going to come in and be able to do better? The club is a nothing club, it's never going yo be able to compete again due to the rules. The only real way to sustain and meet rules is Mike Ashley. I can't honestly see how ANY Premier league club can meet these rules without something dodgy going on. Does anyone know what the clubs stance for legal action is, given it looks like a cluster****?!
-
Faes is a wooly haired fanny though, to be honest he can give it the biggun when he stops letting crap teams catch him out of position on counter attack, or does that pathetic sideways non block thing. 2nd half this was a much better performance but we need to play like this against the relegation fodder too, and not conceed stupid goals.
-
Let's face it, we aren't getting any decisions to help us. You know the EFL will have instructed referees to only give clearcut decisions.
-
Just knocked out first leg. I maintain we will not win another game this season if we persist with the same shit.
-
Time to face it, we are done for the automatic spots. Playoffs it is, we don't have enough for them. No way.
-
Same crap team Wout Faes to be caught out of position or play a counter attack onside 100% on!
