It's the environment not him. I'd be swimming away from this club like it's Alcatraz!

Actually, the fact we're blooding very young players like Monga, Page, Evans suggests to me that we are preparing Academy players better mentally for first team exposure?
It's not helped that Monga, Page and Evans have had Cooper, RVN, Marti, King and now Rowett to work with in their short careers.
Each manager has come in firefighting and thrown them in at some point but it all seems a little sink or swim - not sure that's called "blooding in"
I'd prefer that than not being selected at all mind... as you hope you that you do find an absolute diamond that has the natural resilience to soak it all up and perform. Maybe Page has shown it a bit to be fair.

You couldn't think of any recent Academy products that are 'mentally resilient', so I just reeled off a few, while pointing out you missed the obvious (Hamza) and the already mentioned KDH.
Do you have a point re: working on the mental part of Academy players today? Maybe. I find it difficult to judge. My initial thought is that I see nothing really untoward with the Academy players that have made the first team.
Actually, the fact we're blooding very young players like Monga, Page, Evans suggests to me that we are preparing Academy players better mentally for first team exposure?
I wouldn't class Choudhury as a good captain, a good role model or a well rounded individual personally and probably highlights the fact he didn't have good role models when he was coming through - "Tell you what Hamza, let's go and have a party during lockdown....okay" players like Madders his role model at the time...
Maybe I'm being a little harsh on reflection, it's just young players that make it elsewhere seem to have more mental resilience and personality than most of ours but maybe it's only the top top talent that have that and it helps if they're being introduced to a well balanced squad with excellent role models - not Hamza Choudhury and Harry Winks.
I just feel like getting hold of some of the youngsters and giving them a good shake and saying "you realise how lucky you are to be playing for the first team - savour it, fight tooth and nail for your place and show the world how much this means to you"

It's slightly amusing when our very last game featured an Academy product who captained our team 😅
If you're going all the way back to Heskey, then we've had Richard Stearman, Andy King, Alan Sheehan, Max Gradel and Liam Moore have all captained senior teams - that's just off the top of my head. Players like Bassey, Hirst and Kipre have all progressed to a similar or higher level despite being discarded here.
Don't get your point at all. These posts are cementing my original point!

To counter this, KDH definitely bucks the trend but maybe sending the poor lad to Luton and Blackpool toughened him up
Yeah he slipped my mind because he's granite.

I’d argue that the younger generation are just more reserved / introverted generally. Not just a Leicester thing.
Well that's the point. So you have a framework to build them into confident young men.

U21s having their best season in several years, despite a clutch of the U16 winning side almost completely bypassing the U21s in Page, Monga and Evans.
Seems to me we are very good at spotting telent at a young age and have the facilities and know how to bring it through.
We're great at nurturing that physical talent.... but there's something massively lacking with the mental/personality side in my opinion.
Can't remember the last big resilient character who's been a leader that has come through?
Monga and Evans seem very quiet and reserved - I'd love to see some personally and confidence coming through.
I wonder if this is to do with a lack of role models bringing them through and letting them express themselves maybe?
Seems to be a theme with alot of our youth really...
Heskey - possibly one of the most shy youngsters ever.
Monga - seemed to express himself with his ability but now that's been coached out of him there's not much to connect with.
Evans - didn't seem to grab his chance at the start of the season seemed to let things wash over him.
Barnes - Rodgers called him out for being a bit mentally weak.
Chilwell - Wouldn't take a throw in at Millwall!
Nelson - Hope he can be potential leader in the future but seems very quiet and introverted at the moment.
Thomas - No comment.
Think we need some work on the mental side. Top clubs have world-class players that probably understand this automatically but with our cretins promoting youth must be a nightmare in that toxic climate.

Otchere has been in shit hot form for a while now. 8 goals in his last 11
Need to get him a loan and see how he does with real football.

I like his style and aura so far...
He's more to the point and is calling things out more than any manager in the last few years.
Still a bit party-line for my liking though... He needs to work on calling out players and the board at times but hopefully that will come....
Pearson only told fans they've got 'delusions of grandeur' after settling down..
Then obviously personally picking fans off to FOAD after bedding himself in to be fair.

Don't get this extension.
He's not kicked on as expected. Probably non League is his level.
I'd imagine Hutchinson, Evans, Otchere and Alves are all going to be ahead of him next season.

Yeah it was my video feed. Everytime it worked he happened to be average which was good for him.

He's absolutely turgid, don't get me wrong but I'd like to think Rowett is starting to play his chess pieces in the right positions.
Ayew should be able to be used in some positive capacity at the bottom of Championship level (as should most of our players)

Similar for me except it wasn’t the penalty save that I was impressed with it was the fact he actually clung on to the ball and didn’t palm it off into the path of an opposition player .
Yes that too!
There's a very good goalkeeper there I'm sure...

It wasn't the penalty save that I was impressed by, as I expect he can do that - It was the quick release throw that nearly got us a Troy Deeney esqe goal!
That side of his game has been lacking forever with him and then he pulls that out of the bag suddenly tonight!
Hopefully Rowett has had a word.

If I was Lorenz Hutchinson or Jake Evans I'd be raging we're bring in less proven players than them to take up a squad number.
Seems to me we have an obsession with Chelsea youth.

I've noticed this happening a lot.
Is this happening to others?
If so is it targeted towards users or just applied to certain threads in general?

Mate, I'm a nutter and watch the lad all game. Like a laser. Following him. Because I detest him representing us (not detest him personally of course, as a player..I'm sure he's a nice lad in real life)...and I'm telling you he does absolutely fcking nothing. Every single fcking game..
If you want, I'll buy a pair of those meta glasses so you can follow my eyes watching him all game and you'll see then, he's fcking useless. A complete waste of space. He'll (unintentionally) relegate us like Ward did.
Fair play mate. I watched on a stream that wasn't the most reliable and probably saw 75% of the game at most .... And most of that not focused on BDCR.
The bits I saw of him he looked like he was at least attempting to press and he did look like he linked up play well effectively at times in the first half.
Having said that I need no encouragement to agree he's the pits and on his wage he is a poison.
