We have won 3 games in 14 when Winks starts.
Not matter how bad things have been recently they will almost certainly get worse if he gets involved again.

The meltdown about him leaving I’m seeing is ridiculous.
Part of it stems from how bad things are.
People are living in hope he will solve the forward options.
I thought he struggled in his few sub appearances last season.
Going out and getting game time is what he needs.
His sub appearances were for 5 minutes in the Premier League, of course he struggled to do anything in those games.

Based on?
Since Hermansen's injury he has approximately a 55% save rate at PL level. Worse than Danny Ward for example (although with Ward it was how ridiculous his misses were and the lack of confidence he gave).
As a short goal keeper he is massively dependent on his agility to make saves and he appears to have lost that.
Jakub gets criticised for palming shots back into danger areas, but currently shots in the corner of the goal are out Hermansen's reach, therefore you have to say that Jakub is currently the better shot stopper.
Hermansen's fitness may improve again though, you get the sense that he was rushed back early by both us and West Ham.

His problems here started when his line manager at the time publicly threw him under the bus claiming that his commute to work was too long regardless of the fact he was arriving at the work place on time and staying until the end of the work day.
And this was largely a distraction to cover for that line manager's incompetence, by the way.
His productivity was actually better than coworkers who were being favoured ahead of him because he didn't fit the manager's view of what someone in his role should look like.
Even when his line manager left and was replaced, his performances were better than the same co-worker who was once again preferred to him, seemingly largely because of his personality.
As a result he's been increasingly isolated from the rest of his team and assigned other duties which are beneath his job description.
If we attempted to then pay him at the level of those new duties he'd go to an employment tribunal and absolutely annihilate us, rightly so.
I get it, you don't like him, fair enough. Frankly I've lost patience with him, too. But if we were to pay him at the level of the U21s we'd be entirely in the wrong.
Surely youre not still blaming the Winks issue on Van Nistelrooy after him downing tools and getting frozen out under another manager.
You can blame Van Nistelrooy for many things but he handled Winks exactly as required and the club should have followed through and removed him that summer as a priority.
No one would care about Winks's commuting distance if he showed commitment on the pitch, least of all Van Nistelrooy, the issue is that he had phoned it in long before he was frozen out.
It's typical for managers in any field to ask a bit more from workers who are underdelivering, such as starting work earlier, working from the office more, recording their time.
Getting Winks to stay at Seagrave was a very valid way to try and change the mindset of a player who was only focused on doing the bare minimum. That didn't work for Winks so he was frozen out, as is fair.

It's the club's fault for signing him. If he needed that ridiculous wage to take a step down to the championship then they should have moved onto the next target.
Maybe they thought they were buying a solid premier league midfielder that deserved to be on Prem wages. If he was that level he would be going to a PL level club though.
Just another major screw up from the club really.

Anyone else think Darren Motsi might be around the first team before the seasons out? Seagrave seems to be delivering for us at the moment so we need to capitalize
We need a CAM and Page is more of an 8. Could be sooner than expected

Daka
If we signed Daka for £2mil and on reasonable wages whilst in the championship and whilst Vardy is no longer the default starter he could have worked out.
He's now lost all confidence and consistency, momentum as a striker cannot be understated.

Now with the exception of the incomings I would say Marti has some glaring similarities and flaws as Cooper.
How can anyone give Cooper any praise. He was the one who signed Ayew and Bobby Reid, who were dreadful in the PL and arent even cutting it in the championship.
Skipp as well, who has somehow become a fan favourite, is not good enough for a team looking for a promotion push, let alone for £20mil. Just an absolutely diabolical summer.

Dom Ballard a player who was scoring regularly at u18 and u21 level for for Southampton between the ages of 17 and 18 then had his career slowed by an injury.
Now he would be an ideal transfer for us after half of a great season in League one.
I wonder where Jake Evans and Lorenz Hutchinson would be if we had been integrating them since the start of the season. Might not be at the level of Ballard probably but certainly better options than Ayew.

This will be an appalling signing if it happens.
So depressing how crap we are now at everything.
We would be creaming ourselves if we were signing signing August Priske.
Diabate has the same number of goals and is likely cheaper (and therefore available for us to buy) because of his age.

Ayew attacking midfielder back on the menu.

Why on Earth did he have to be partnered with Eric Dier.
Don't France pump out 2-3 world class centrebacks every year? We need Monaco to sign one of those to cover for Faes and make him look competent.
Although maybe I should never have hoped that we could sell him in the first place.

Yep the irony, I want to be a LB I will leave to play LB, 191 games later he’s played 46 as a LB 🤷♂️
He left because there wasnt a pathway to the first team.
Who started this "he didn't want to play centre back" rumour, it is ridiculous to suggest that he wouldnt have renewed with us if there was a pathway to the first team of a Premier League team as a back up centre back available to him.
He left at the same time as Luke Thomas broke through, so he could have played left back as well.

He’s not going to be a superstar. But he’s more than good enough for us and vast improvement on what we have
Debatable, he scored conistently as a pure finisher in one of the best championship sides.
Apart from that he walks around and doesnt contribute defensively. Considering how little we create for our strikers, there's a chance he's just a nothing player for us.

we tracked him for years. He’s a fluid forward, who if Marti is going to stay, needs a fluid striker.
loan. Proven in the league. Never ever has a signing made more sense. If I see this guy end up at Norwich or west brom I will actually explode
Joel Piroe is one of those players that is just dreadful when you watch him.
You know a player is rubbish when Leeds fans cant stand him despite being the top scorer in the championship last season.

It be fair to him, he has been an Academy director at 3 clubs, which is a little more than being a coach.
Everyone has to start somewhere, Dan Ashworth started as an academy Director.
Pep started as an Academy coach and went straight to managing the first team.
Coaching a B team playing men's league football is not the same as being an academy coach.

Never played for Leicester of course but in any list of hated players the diabolical Fer Nino deserves a mention.
Tyler Morton if we're going for other team's players. Broke Ricardo's leg when he was finally fit again.
Around the same time as Klopp was attacking Choudhury for a reckless challenge that injured Salah for two games as well. The hypocrisy of it wound me up.

Alves is the exact kind of player we are missing in the first team.
Frustrating that with Ramsey injured we have the best remaining attacking midfielder at the club out on loan. Hopefully Page can step up.

To be fair he looked good in one game i saw him against Mbappe when it was France vs Belgium.
It's the sh*t players you need to watch out for with Wout, he thinks theyre beneath him so his brain switches off. Or maybe he just got lucky one game who knows.

The reason why its a problem now is because the club didn't invest that money in a new fullback. Instead we're stuck with Luke Thomas.
This is why its hilarious when fans get giddy that certain players we don't like are being sold, we all know they're not getting replcaed.
The club is not interested in re-investing.
I think most fans like James Justin, even if his last season with us was, lets be honest, shocking. We conceded a lot of goals due to his errors.
He's better than Thomas, but selling Justin got us a lot of money for one year of his contract and will allow Aluko to get opportunities and develop.

I'm going off the basis that the following academy players in the last 15 years have forged a career in the premier league;
Chilwell
Barnes
KDH (jury out a bit but now performing well at Everton)
Schlupp
King (his best seasons were in the Championship)
Happy to be corrected. I know history isn't a future predictor but it's a good indicator.
Dewsbury Hall is a key player for Everton and performed for us before that in the PL and Europe. It's not debatable that he's a PL level player.
The level of talent that we are developing now is better than ever before. History is only relevant if nothing has changed but clearly our academy has gotten a lot better in recent years.
There's a reason this conversation about bringing through young players is happening now rather than 5 or 10 years ago, it's because they are good enough to warrant that conversation.
