Not sure if good or bad news, clearly worked his way into his plans. Might have to start again under a new manager
Our luck with loans is so incredibly bad.

Evans three chances in the highlights. Does well to create them and decent movement for the 2nd one.
Natural goal scorer, once he's gotten enough minutes in his legs he's going to be scoring loads with all the chances he gets.

No, however that doesn’t stop people speculating.
I’m speculating that he was somewhat annoyed with playing with lower standard players and crappy tactics under Cooper, Van Nistelrooy and Cifuentes.
Why does this narrative that Winks has been hard done by persist?
Over the last 2 years he has done nothing to differentiate himself from those bad players and managers so why is he treated differently?
It's almost like you're allowed to pick on players like Daka, Okoli etc or managers like Cifuentes because they can't play or manage better if they tried, but Winks is allowed to sulk and play terribly because he can be a good player if he chose to be.
It should be the reverse, he should be maligned more because he is actively not applying himself.

Conspiracy theory:
The club want to re-sign Winks
Winks has realised he is not going to earn as much elsewhere after looking around in January.
The club has released a story that Winks was extended automatically in 2023 to avoid backlash from fans when he's still here next season.

it is also the National League Guys.. there is a big difference between that and Championship / League One.
We have played Jordan Ayew regularly this season. Popov can only prove himself at the level he's playing at and can't be worse than Ayew.

Just got a mental image of Beckham getting the ball on the right wing, delivering a wicked cross into the box where there are none of our players, then 5 seconds later Ayew walks up slowly behind him and says "nice cross mate. Who was that for?"
Couldn't help but laugh when I imagined Daka at the end of this cross.
A missed shot is better than no shots at least which is what we get with Winks.

If you genuinely think Scholes, Beckham, Kante, Xavi, Modric would get outplayed by a midfield of Sam Field and Kenny McClean then you're out of your mind.
All of them proven at champions league level, the gap between them and Winks who hasn't even proven himself at Premier League level is huge.
Forget world class midfielders, if we had a Premier proven midfielder like Tielemans or Dewsbury Hall or Elliot Andersen or Bruno guimaraes instead of Winks we would be far better off.

He benefitted from a bit of momentum and enthusiasm which he killed
We can't play high press football because our attack and midfield have no legs.
We can't play defensive football because our full backs let their men get past them too easily, our midfield doesn't track runners and our cente backs are error prone.
We can't counterattack because we have no ball carriers in midfield and our attackers are useless.
The only option we have with the squad is this turgid possession football that doesn't quite work, because it's what we recruited players for. No manager we bring in can change that.

Winning at Norwich was probably a bad result for us, we likely would have sacked Cifuentes afterwards.
Let's wait until we win a game after his sacking to decide whether we should have sacked him sooner.
If this form continues you could argue he turned water into wine by getting any wins from this lot.

Ok - so that is 13 players that you have highlighted in bold.
Of the greyed ones:
Stolarcyk has played and played well, in The Premier League.
Jordan James has played in the French top tier and a full international
Fatawu has literally got a Championship winners medal, a full international, the youngest of the Ghana players that played at AFCON
Kristiansen - Danish international and played in Serie A for Bologna who finished fourth
Joe Aribo - Nigerian international, runners up in AFCON, won the SPL and Scottish Cup with Rangers, 53 Premier League appearances
Patson Daka - Championship winners medal, four Austrian Bundesliga titles, Bundesliga player of the season, Zambian International played at AFCON, played in Champions League and Premier League.
Luke Thomas - FA Cup winner, 82 Premier League appearances, England age groups up to U21
That's another seven to add to your thirteen. The rest are highly rated kids breaking through such as Monga, Page, Nelson, Mukasa and all capped in their international age groups. Nelson having earned rave reviews at Oxford last year and former academy player of the year.
I think I have made my point. These players should be doing much, much better and what they continue to serve up is a disgrace. Now. can anyone name me another Championship Squad that comes close to ours in terms of pedigree?
That's the issue, we have collected a team of players based on on-paper "pedigree" rather than footballing ability and attitude. Can they actually perform any better than what they are providing? I am not so sure.
Okoli for example was "proven" in Series A but Atalanta fans were laughing at us for buying him for £13mil without the slightest consideration that he might be worth the fee.
Surely any business valued in the 100s of millions should be able to do the basic due diligence on fan sentiment around a player when scouting. It took me 2 minutes looking online at the response to the transfer to know how it was going to work out.
It is just staggerlingly amateur, the sheer incompetence at this club is just incomprehensible. It's gotten to the point where if you picked a random FoxesTalk user to run the club over the last 5 years they wouldn't have done any worse, they certainly wouldn't have signed Jordan Ayew or Oliver Skipp.

In fairness. He isn’t a left winger.
What is he supposed to be exactly? Not a winger, not a midfielder, not a striker.

He’s been booked so might end up coming off but sounds like he’s played well
Hopefully this isn't a false dawn but if he's proving to be starter quality at league one level already at 17 then that's very exciting for us.

Not watching the Northampton game but apparently Evans almost set up a goal and wiped a player out in the first 10 minutes. At least he's not going missing.

Yes, he looked weak and unmotivated under Cooper, RVN and Cifuentes, but so did the rest of the squad. There is clearly a massive cultural issue at Seagrave that has weighed heavily on squad morale and performances for several years now. You could certainly argue that as a senior pro Winks should have tried harder to set a good example, but he wasn't responsible for the problems we've faced—those were down to the shitshow at the top of the club.
He's clearly not going to be here next season, so you don't need to worry about that. But your suggestion that if he did stay we would 'certainly go down' is an emotional statement, not a rational one. I get that Winks has become the focal point for a lot of people's frustrations over the past two seasons, but I'm surprised by the extent to which some folk seem to completely lose their heads over him. Winks is a just symptom—he's not a cause.
Winks, out of everyone in our squad, is the epitome of overpaid and unbothered. We have been suffering as a club from players who have talent but do not apply themselves to use it. As the highest paid player at the club who has also put in such minimal effort on the pitch and in training sessions that he has been booted by two managers, Winks is essentially the figurehead for players who have let the club down. That's why he gets so much vitriol.
As a fan of Winks you would surely argue that he has the ability to be a low end Premier League/high end championship level player. Yet for the last 2 seasons he hasn't been tracking runners or committing to tackles and generally has been playing to a lower championship/league one standard That isn't on the managers that's on him choosing to not play to the best of his potential.
He's not like Wout Faes either who can't help that he can't concentrate for a full game, Winks has shown that he can perform to a high level over 90 minutes. He just actively chooses to not exert himself as he clocked out a while ago.
As I said before, hopefully we get to benefit from his newfound commitment and stay up but when it gets to the summer it should be "goodbye and good riddance". We cannot persist with players who pick and choose whether they want to show up or not.

Harry Winks had a major problem with the same managers that the fans had a problem with. He saw through them just like we did. He's basically one of us
As mentioned above he has worked under some top class managers at Spurs before coming to us and fallen out with most of them (Mourinho, Nuno, Conte).
He's not some connoisseur of good managers, just a mardy arse who can't seem to get along with people and lacks fight and desire when the going gets tough.
If he keeps us up then that's a positive on his record here, but he has otherwise been disgraceful and unbothered. Considering he was brought in to bring us back to the Premier League and we are sat in the relegation zone having won 3 games in 17 when he starts he has been a complete failure here.
Irrespective of how he plays out the rest of the season get him gone in the summer. Otherwise we will certainly go down next season with him comfortable on a new overpaid contract.

Any player destined for great things should comfortably be able to shine in the Championship regardless of their age. If they're unable they won't hit the very highest levels in the game.
That's nonsense, you only need to look at the England XI to see multiple players who dont fit that description.
Kane, Bowen, Dan Burn, Eze took a few seasons to get started at championship level, our own Vardy.

I wonder how many fans who arent happy with Nelson's performances will be unhappy when he forces a move or runs down his contract to join a better club.

Much better last night.
That performance against Stoke though? Not sure even Faes or Vestergaard have ever been that bad!
Faes has had games where he stopped trying to defend when we went 2-0 down. Nelson has never been that bad.

Good yesterday.
Bit premature to call him the best midfielder in the league considering his average performance this season.

They stole him from West Ham, had zero to do with his development.
Ok so we are comparing our own talents with the academy players of a club who can pick and choose the best from other academies.
Still reinforces the point that Mukasa being good does not downplay the talent of Page and Monga.

Man City have an excellent academy that in recent years has produced many champions league quality players like Foden, Palmer, Nico o reilly.
From a leicester perspective our best talents in recent years are Barnes, Dewsbury Hall, Chilwell who are PL level but are obviously not as good as the Man City ones.
Man City having a 18 year old academy player who's better than ours shouldnt be surprising, it doesnt take away from the fact that Monga and Page, who are still only 17 and 16 are some of the best players we have produced in a long time.
I wonder how good Mukasa was when he was Monga's age.
