I did a road trip through Louisiana and Texas a few years back and the average strength of the beers on offer was a bit mind blowing (once you've managed to avoid the lite lager dross)! I particularly remember drinking cans of this monstrosity at an NFL game https://www.gooseisland.com/beers/big-hazy-pineapple-beer-hug. For the avoidance of doubt it is one of the most vile beers I've ever drunk! I'd definitely had my fill of Hazy IPAs by the end of the holiday, although malty German dunkel/marzen style beers were quite popular in that area, which was a good antidote to IPA overload.

All the madder considering the Germans had basically done the same thing twice before. In living memory.

Having had a look at the Leatherbritches website, Mad Brewer might be an alternative brand they use sometimes. Maybe I'll find out tomorrow!
