There is a very real possibility that Iran have further people removed from their party every time they arrive in the US. They have been forced to move base to Mexico and are only allowed to fly in to US on game days, have to go through immigration every time. Already lost 14 people from their party. They are set up to fail, will be very impressive if they manage to do anything at all in the tournament.

Japan are 13/5 to beat the Netherlands on Sunday. Tempted.
Best Asian team of all time potentially? They look very good. Such a shame that Mitoma is out injured, could have gone pretty deep in the tournament. Maybe they still will…

As a Canadian, I hate playing them. Pretty much the same as all the Central American teams. It's usually just horrible and the furthest thing from good football.
We have to play Panama in the group, so probably a sensible prep match then?

Never a pen that

Have Costa Rica been paid to try to kick us off the park?
Yeah suspect we will not be playing them in a pre tournament friendly again any time soon 😅 I guess the thinking was they are somewhat similar side to Panama

Solid group this. Japan to win it.

I know Palmer didn't have the best season(as with is team), but wasn't he the only guy who scored in the final against Spain last time out?
I can at least understand with Foden, because he does squat when he plays for England, but not taking Palmer was certainly a choice.
He’s also been injured (and playing through it) most of the year, and was still carrying injury at the end of the season. Tuchel gave palmer multiple auditions in the friendlies before the squad was picked and he was awful (as was Foden).

Goalkeepers: Dominik Livakovic (Dinamo Zagreb), Dominik Kotarski (Copenhagen), Ivor Pandur (Hull City).
Defenders: Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City), Duje Caleta-Car (Real Sociedad), Josip Sutalo (Ajax Amsterdam), Josip Stanisic (Bayern Munich), Marin Pongracic (Fiorentina), Martin Erlic (Midtjylland), Luka Vuskovic (Hamburg).
Midfielders: Luka Modric (AC Milan), Mateo Kovacic (Manchester City), Mario Pasalic (Atalanta), Nikola Vlasic (Torino), Luka Sucic (Real Sociedad), Martin Baturina (Como), Kristijan Jakic (Augsburg), Petar Sucic (Inter Milan), Nikola Moro (Bologna), Toni Fruk (Rijeka).
Forwards: Ivan Perisic (PSV Eindhoven), Andrej Kramaric (Hoffenheim), Ante Budimir (Osasuna), Marco Pasalic (Orlando City), Petar Musa (Dallas), Igor Matanovic (Freiburg).
Loads of experience in there with some really decent young players like Vuskovic and Sucic. Some of their more experienced players aren't crazy old either (aside from Perisic and Modric).
England should have far too much for them but it's a decently tricky starting game. England have to win or they'll play someone like Spain or France far too early.
We are arguably better off coming second in the group given where it would put us in the knockout draw if we come first.
Round of 16 would be 1am uk time in Estadio Azteca, Mexico City. High altitude (2000+m above sea level), high temperatures, and the most likely team to face in that game is winner of Group A… Mexico, so also a major home advantage as it’s a proper football nation. Very good chance England could lose in that scenario imo.
Imagine staying up till 3am to watch us go out to Mexico, players panting and sweating by the end.

According to the State Department the Somalian referee had links to terror organisations so I guess it makes sense why he wasn’t allowed in.
Top referee in Africa, no criminal record, ridiculous decision. He will be at the next World Cup and many more after that (assuming they aren’t hosted in backwards countries, which tbf is probably a stretch given it’s FIFA
).
Does show FIFA has lost a bit of the control they typically have over World Cup proceedings in other countries. In South Africa they basically became a law unto themselves and had the local government agree set up special “World Cup courts” (kangaroo courts, effectively) in the country.

Can anyone recommend good Chinese sellers of England shirts? Refuse to pay £135 for a shirt that costs £18 of materials to make.

I’d rather this forum coach the club by committee than Russell fecking Martin.

This is the worst realistic appointment… Therefore fully expect us to appoint him. His teams are some of the worst I’ve ever seen, turgid, sideways, boring and pointless football. He leaves teams worse than how he found them.
What is the point, honestly. I’ve missed watching one game in about a decade (for my wedding) when it was possible for me to watch. This actively makes me not want to see us play.

Data centres suck up vast amounts of energy from the grid to power racks and racks of GPUs/servers, the vast majority of that energy is dissipated as heat. Water cooling is used to cool the servers.
Current estimates say that by 2030 data centres will absorb ~1,000 terawatts of electricity globally. That is roughly double the power consumption of the nation of France.
AI Water use is estimated to be ~700-1,300 billion litres per year by 2030, is currently half that. Enough water to sustain a billion or so people every year.
But hey, it makes funny pictures, and will only make (mostly) younger people unemployed? Can’t be that bad?

Tougher group than it looks, this. Austria are no joke under rangnick, could see them nicking the group.

Not a provided category, but notable dark horses are Norway and Portugal, could see either going very deep in the competition. I expect Germany and Brazil to disappoint their historical expectations.

Also, I’m surprised neither handball is given. Shocking that former Arsenal players Keown and Wilshire disagree… the goal would have 100% been disallowed if that handball assist had been in the box rather than near the half way line. The Saka one is 50:50 in fairness, seen them given.

I think we’re about to see another paradigm shift in the game. The higher ups won’t want to lose viewership in an age where attention spans are dwindling.
I hope we get an anti Arteta manager for the record
I’d start out making the offside rule daylight gap between players. Less protection for goalkeepers.
Make it easier and more rewarding to attack. More goals.

Can’t believe that as it stands it looks like Arteta has managed to get a PL and CL playing terroristball. They are the worst prem champions since us, and the least entertaining to watch champions ever.

doesn’t look great when he is bothering to show up to play against Chippenham Town in a charity match vs “Premier League Legends”, but won’t play essentially the same game for Leicester
