  1. 100% this. I know we shouldn't harp on the past but going into 66 World Cup it was unthinkable that Jimmy Greaves could be dropped. Slight knock in group match and Geoff Hurst brought in. Hurst had only got his first cap 5 months previous yet Ramsey knew something had to change for the benefit of the team. Fast forward to Southgate and he persists with a struggling Kane when obvious to all that that he dare not drop his big name player despite the issue for the team
  2. So to recap. It is obvious that Kane was not fit but picked anyway. Trippier was played in most games because Shaw not fit. Not sure Shaw is that good anyway but at least he is a left back albeit limited.
  3. There were a number of times when we had a throw in and there was no movement by our players and possession lost.
  4. I think England played too deep all through the tournament
  5. Alf Ramsey told Jack Charlton he wasn't the best player or even best centre half but he had a pattern of play that Jack fitted
  6. England too often static and not playing with enough pace. So many times in space only to stop and play it backwards. It seems obvious that Kane should not have started after the Dutch game
  7. And even before my time we did nothing in the days of Finney, Matthews and Lofthouse etc
  8. Yes no sustained performance in any match
  9. Take 66 out of it and we've never been that good
  10. The difference is that for years we had nothing at the top level of club football to enjoy and England took on more importance. The club has sated our desire for at least a while and the disappointment of England is not quite what it was
  11. I think most of us could see Kane either not fit, off form or whatever but Southgate too stubborn
  12. Only because our football is conservative in that sense of word
  13. The Conservatives may have lost the election but the football team still that way inclined
  14. Let's face it not good enough for long enough during the course of the match as a whole.
  15. Last thing I want is balance by the BBC to include Juan Mata
  16. Old father time catching up finally
