Granted 'When your Smiling' isn't a fast paced, or upbeat song, but what club anthems are? You don't hear Old Trafford singing 'Happy' or Stamford Bridge singing 'Hey Ya' I sing it before the game, not because I much like the song (definitely not in my playlists), but because it does resonate to me in a way of, its some form of closer connection to my club. We adopted it as our anthem in the 1980's, so there's abit of history there too with the terraces singing it. IMO 'You'll never walk alone is a garbage song', and you can't tell me that's inspiring and upbeat. But Celtic and Liverpool belt it with pride (albeit Liverpool are silent for the rest of the 90) and apparently inspires the players and generates the atmosphere? Maybe due to the last few seasons, people feel less likely to sing it as there is disconnection between club and fanbase, and the downturn in our fortunes. But literally why not sing along to it? If it got replaced by an upbeat song, would you sing along to that? Unlikely. Much rather 'When Your Smiling', than 'Hey Jude', or 'Uptown Funk', which has nothing to do with the club at all.

Could also be lazy/clever journalism, in that the journalists are just listing players with that connection for clickbait

Why have we had successive managers leave when they have kept the women's side in top division, but choosing to keep this manager after a season just as horrific as the mens. Not a russel martin fan, and would rather someone else be in charge but it is what it is. I do like his first interview notes however. Whether its something he has been filled in on by those above or something he has noted himself by watching us he's stated the last couple of seasons is done and gone. And we need a fresh energy, and the very first thing he will be asking for, is total commitment from the players and for them to work harder than anyone else in the league. Of course easier said than done, and I dont match russell teams with energy, but this is something we have been yearning for for the last 2 years right? A team that will show up and fight in every game. See what happens innit.

He ensured to take pictures with some supporters that asked, one in particular thanking him for everything after getting their snap. I agree with you. For me world class is the very pinnacle of your position. Just because I dont think vardy and mahrez reached world class doesnt mean I dont value them as amazing footballers or the outstanding achievements in there career. Players can also produce world class moments in a game, but needs to be sustainable to be said as a world class player for me
