Even if the Chelsea board tell him they will pick the team? Surely he has to hear that from them first hand so he knows its really a thing?
-
Yes, but as we are seeing right now, most of us know fvk all. And to be fair, if he did come here it would have been in a Championship season, and I expect that most on here thought the fee would have been about Mads level. What Man City got for him was criminal. But your point is bang on. Burley overpaid for Trafford, we went for Mads. How about we let our club work out this summers recruitment rather than just harping on about Burnley.
-
Well yes, this is obviously the difference with all the media sh1t that comes with football. But once you are that 'list' and its out there on socials, your currently club has to accept that you are likely to speak to them. And sometimes in the real world, companies you work for make counter offers, or a willing to make other commitments to your long term goals.
-
Really? If Chelsea ask to meet you, you go visit them. But how they conduct themselves will matter just as much as the case you put across yourself. This will be his opportunity to understand how Chelsea would be willing to buy into a project.

This shit has been doing my head in all year. I wonder how many people who constantly make the comparison even saw Burnley play this season. When you bring up that other styles of play have got teams relegated or very close to being relegated, you are then reminded that Burnley spent €100 mil. As if just spending money is the barometer for success. Burnley spent €17m on 19 year James Trafford straight from Man City U21's (this has to be Man City's best ever work), who they ended up dropping before performances picked up. They spent nearly €18m on Amdouni, who scored 5 goals. Maybe, Burnleys problem was that they spent that 100mil on shite, or players who weren't ready yet?

Nothing changed on Betfair exchange. Enzo slight favourite over Mckenna. Jose at 11/1. Presume most bookies suspend when someone drops a tenner on these markets.
-
Love you still put Moyes in there.
-
Whats this obsession with Enzo and Christmas? Is he planning to dress up as Zwarte Piet or something?
-
Why is this different to any other job? I've interviewed for positions when been in jobs, sometimes because something interesting has cropped up or someone i have worked with before is thinking about doing something. The decision to move on has many decision factors, and when i've stayed somewhere i have always put in the same effort as before. If Chelsea wants to speak to you, you would be an idiot not to speak back. If he doesn't go, be it his decision or theirs (bearing in mind if they don't make an offer he doesn't have a decision to make anyway), i don't see any reason why he would give the LCFC job any less effort that before.

Why not?

If he left Brighton because he couldn't get what he wanted (recruitment etc), no chance he is going to come here. Any appointment we make is going to have to accept our predicament and rebuilt accordingly. Also, DZ served up some of the worst sh1t in the PL 2nd half of the season. There was nothing attractive about it. His whing off had a touch of the Brendans about it, but luckily for Brighton fans their board was much more decisive that ours.
-
Whilst Enzo hasn't even gone, i would presume this is all agent talk right now. I think our board would go back to wanting PL experience for any new appointment.
-
You would imagine that they might look at more than 1 game where a Championship side came to their ground and had a go. This forum sometimes!
-
Agree on all that. My historical posts show that i thought Potter was overrated, but he's got to get back in the game at some point and i think the big clubs in England are passing him by. Would love us to appoint a manager on the way up, but like Enzo, you have to accept that if they succeed then the big boys will come calling one day.
-
To be fair - you can understand all of those.
-
Has he though? Do we know what he has actually turned down (other than us) beyond being mentioned in the press?
-
Why do you think teams will be parking the bus against us?!?!
-
Historically there have always been murmurs that leadership always always wanted someone with Premier League experience. This obviously shifted once relegated, but it will be interesting to see if the Enzo experiment has changed their thinking now we are back in the Prem. Part of me thinks that will still be a barrier to bringing someone like Corberan or Rosenior in now we are back. I'm less keen on Rosenior as i think he actually had a much better squad and probably should have made the playoffs. I think Corberan overachieved and i love his energy. Like a lot of posters on here, i think they will initially gravitate to Moyes and Potter and if one one of those is up for it it will be job done. You would think Potter would fancy a sniff now we are back in the Prem and have shown a bit of ambition in getting here. None of the big Clubs seem to be interested in Potter so he's going to have to get back out there and prove his worth again.

Because people see what they want to see. Its a job. If one of the biggest clubs in the country comes calling you listen to what they have to say, because they might never come calling again. The media circus is disappointing, and like rolling news these days with the same stuff being regurgitated. There is no suggestion his heart is set on anything.

Think you need a holiday mate.
-
Why has this got anything to do with being sold?
-
Chelsea forum convinced it’s McKenna. All the noise and we have no idea how much contact there has been and what time table Chelsea are working to.
-
I hate the farce that surrounds all of this. Journo's chasing clicks, reporters regurgitating the same crap. Its like rolling news when a disaster has happened. For all we know, there has been the smallest amount of contact, or a deal has already been signed. At the end of the day, this is a job. I have a sh1t hot developer on my team, and he's learnt a lot with us. But one day, one of the big boys are going to entice him over. He's be an idiot not to consider and see what he can get and consider if its the right thing for him. Same for Enzo / Mckenna. Even Corboran's team is doing it with us. If Chelsea want to speak to you, you do it and listen to what they have to say. Doesn't mean that you don't like this job or you don't think you have a future here. Its just a different level of opportunity. Enzo has every right to speak to them and my hate (or love) everything that gets discussed. This is life. I hope he speaks to them and decides what he has here is better for his life and career. Only needs to look at pictures of Potter towards the end of his time to see how that job can chew you up. If he stays, im confident he will still put everything into it - he's that sort of person. But all this rubbish about him chasing a way out etc can f**k off. If Enzo didn't speak to Chelsea, he would be an absolute tool. FWIW, i think it's done now. As someone else said, think they have the players that will shine in his system and they know it and he knows it.

Patson Daka. 80 mil. Been his dream to play for Chelsea I hear.
-
Are we in Europe then? He took a team with more talent than ours and nearly got them relegated. Same team stunk the league second half this season. 8th in the net spend table. It’s league form we should be looking at and he has underachieved.
