  1. Mentioned the signing to a Hertford fan I know. Said he saw him when they played against Arsenal u18 in semi (?) final of youth cup this season- lost 4-3. Said he was the best player on the pitch and a bit feisty....not sure he'll fit in with our bunch of pansies
  2. OK I'll put my head above the parapet. I don't believe in absolute equality as people have different skills, work ethics, risk taking etc and this should be incentivised and rewarded. However I do accept the notion of reducing inequality and maximising equality of opportunity.
  3. Imagine paying over 50% corporation tax. I have my own business and pay corporation tax but if it was at that level why would you bother
  4. I agree. That's why I did the 'mostly'
  5. That's what happens now though (mostly). You pay a percentage of your income not a fixed sum. So if you earn £30 k you contribute around £5K in direct tax. If you earn £200k you contribute around £80K. If you are not working or below £12K ish you contribute nothing. For me the current system is reasonably fair.
  6. I Also in April this year corporation tax was raised from 19% to 25% for all but the smallest businesses. Allowances for dividends were also cut and capital gains tax allowances practically abolished. Not very Tory things to do really Ireland are an interesting example. They have low business taxes and high personal taxes which is mainly responsible for their 'economic miracle'. Not sure the people there feel that wealthy though.
  7. Why has Taggart got a coat on?
  8. We just want the aggression, the will to win and not putting up with the crap from current players. Pearson is the symbol of this desire rather than the person who will now be the one to deliver it. Hopefully the anger everyone is feeling can inspire a new mentality because most people (at least me) are sick and tired of the last two years and the weakling managing this club.
  9. I watched QPR Blackpool last night. Bowler did a couple of nice things first half and took his goal well. Good technical player but not very quick. Might do better in a better team The one who did take my eye was the Blackpool centre half, Ekpiteta. Best player on the pitch and got man of the match. I'd never heard of him so looked him up. Blackpool player of the season last year. He's nearly 27 but spent a long time in non-league....Matt Elliott anyone. Played like he had to win every ball and threw himself to block everything as well as having pace and reasonable ability on the ball. Sometimes think these players have more desire than those coming from Academies who are millionaires before they play in the first team.
  10. Be interested why Forest didn't go for him after his loan spell as they've signed everyone else
  11. I agree. I've watched him 3 times this season. He got caught out of position couple of times against Preston , one costing a goal and was very uncomfortable against the mighty Ched Evans in the second half. Against Brentford he gave the ball away which led to a goal, and then he was pretty average against Arsenal. He's got great potential but he's nowhere near yet. I'd 100% take £85 mill.
  12. I don't really understand why Nice would want to sign him. Better chuck that money and 3 year contract at a younger keeper such the guy below or similar rather than at a 35 year old who is probably starting to enter the period of inevitable decline
  13. I'm not getting the 'ate for him on here
  14. Although Soumare seems to be copping most of the stick none of the defenders played well. Tactically I always think the full backs play too high and offer little cover for the centre halves so a simple ball over the top or down the line causes problems. Part of what Rodgers calls overloading the flanks by pushing the full back up; I also think this hinders Barnes and cuts down his space. Some games last season you had Barnes, KDH and Justin within about 10 yards of each other (together with their 3 markers) meaning there's no space to run in.
  15. On holiday in Iceland last week, had the tv news on which included the draw for the quarter finals of the cup. Following the draw there was an interview with the manager of Vikingur to determine his thoughts....a certain Arnie Gunnlaugsson. My Icelandic being a bit rusty had no idea what was said. He still has the same hairstyle but has added a bushy black beard. Never quite went for him at Leicester but I do remember a couple of cracking goals curled into the corner from outside the box at the old kop end.
