Benko cost about 12million quid and never played a league game for us and left for nothing. Basically money for nothing. If he wasn't a bad signing neither was Bertrand.
-
In the modern era he's in competition with Daka, Soumare, Vesty, Faes, WARD, Adrien Silva, Benkovic and maybe a few more.

Maybe chill out a bit. -
But is he any better than our current youngsters? Probably not, baring in mind our u21 side is faring much better than Newcastles.

Daka scored 7 and assisted 5 in just short of 1100 minutes (20 games) last time round in the Championship. They're very good stats. Perhaps they naively thought he would replicate that again at the level. -
He won't get massive wages and he won't get a signing on fee full stop, because he's not going to be getting a long contract. He'll get one to the end of the season if he's offered anything. Signing him isn't comparable to any signing because the circumstances are so niche. Antonio isn't being inundated with offers, hence training (and currently nothing more) with us. Antonio has the opportunity to play at a World cup with Jamaica. He needs to prove he can still play football in order to put himself in the frame for that experience. He can't afford to price himself out of the opportunity, if it even is an opportunity. He was on around 90kpw at West Ham. If he wants more than 10% of that, then see ya later Ant. Though I do agree it's better to lure someone else in, but that might not be a possibility.

Ha, fxxk off are they looking at Monga to replace Johnson.
-
Palace didn't come in for him cos they got a better deal on Pino.
-
They'll activate the obligation soon enough, and pay the fee. The 25ish includes the loan fee.
-
I shall never forgive him for scoring against us in the Europa League. Traumatised. Oh go on then.
-
He's no Sammy Braybrooke! I doubt they'd be looking to move him on after only half a season, especially after they only recently got rid of their manager. New guy might come round to him.

I suppose the hope is you pull a Sunderland and go big in the transfer market to success. They would have been tragic had they stayed with the squad that went up.

There's rarely clauses to outright cancel a loan part way through. This isn't something exclusive to us. Generally there'll be clauses that come with fees to be paid. It's not as easy as the loan club to cancel as it is for a parent club to recall. -
Social media aside, I think he went down in many peoples estimations when he'd struggled for games at Man Utd for so long, then had a really good loan at West Ham only to go back to doing the same thing at Man Utd and ultimately going to Forest for the money and doing nothing. Made people think he wasn't a serious player because he should have engineered a move to West Ham.. Although in fairness after his loan move there he probably thought he'd done enough to warrant more opportunities at Man Utd, but it also just looked like dropping back into his comfort zone.

Like the Edouard situation in what way? That we don't want him? Aside from that it's nowhere near as bad as the Ed fiasco. Carranza hasn't played for Feyenoord this season so he's not locked out of a loan move to a different European club like Edouard was, and we're also not limited to 2 loans like we were last season so Carranzas presence isn't blocking us from bringing in another loanee, finances aside. Would be great if he surprised us all and scored a few goals in the next few games, but he'll probably not see grass. -
That's literally a couple of posts up @davieG

Didn't we knock back suggestions of 30 in the summer?
-
He's an example of a player who had never performed in one of Europes top 5 leagues, and as a result of not performing at Monaco was available for us to take on loan without obligation. A pretty apt example really. I didn't say Boadu is on the same level, that's not really the point.
-
I've got a horrible feeling he didn't actually meg the Ipswich player. Sleepless nights.
-
As stated he has Pepi ahead of him who is a better player. Y'know a bit like when we had Kramaric at the same time as Vardy. For AZ he scored 1 in 2. For Bochum in the Bundesliga he scored 1 in 2. At Monaco, where he "failed" his record stands at a goal every 195 minutes. In his last season at Monaco he only scored 1. But he only played 112 minutes. In his short loan stint at Twente he scored 3, but only played 294 minutes. The 9 goals he scored for Bochum came from a total of 1062 minutes, a goal every 118 minutes. He could be good for us, he could be shit. But it's the sort of loan we should be looking at when the window comes round because we're so stuck for options. Your notion that we can be going out and grabbing talent proven at the top of the game is delusional to be honest, we've not even done that when we were riding high in the Premier League so how you think we'll be able to do that whilst looking largely unconvincing so far at Championship level is a mystery. I understand we don't want to be lumbered with shit, but that's the point in the loan aspect. Try before you buy.
-
Fxxking hell, he'll fit right in with some of our players then!
-
Delete that immediately, some idiot might scout the forum!
-
Which is why you loan one in first if you can, as I suggested. Your way of doing things would have seen us miss out on Youri when we were a Prem side cos, like Boadu, he didn't cut it at Monaco. Additionally when have we ever signed a striker proven in any of the top 5 leagues? French Ed? Ayew? Slimani is about as close as we've gotten and Liga Sagres isn't in that collective. Someone who did well in a short reference period in Kel. So £30mill punts that did what?
