5000/1 Anniversary Match To Support Local Causes - Saturday 30th May
Wsl replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Given theyβre stuffing up and sending emails thanking people whoβd cancelled their season tickets for renewing, how do they know with any accuracy who did attend all the matches 2015-16 and this season? Ten years later and theyβve kept those attendance records down to the names of those who did in fact turn up (as opposed to holding a season ticket)? Doesnβt sound likely to me. -

Good grief. Just about crawled to the 15th over.

are they Palace fans?

As far as I can see with the team selection, the only plan appears to have a spine of three Bens.

He can occasionally bowl a good spell or hit a few that plays a large part in a win, but those days are rare. I wasn't sad to see him go to Yorkshire because he never developed any consistency of high quality performance with us. I really don't know why we signed him again. He's one who was considered to have real potential at the beginning of his first spell with us but he never really delivered on that promise. Hit his ceiling early and right now, his bowling is all over the shop. He'd better score a blistering quick century now.....

"All Star" is doing some very heavy lifting there. -
Yes, which is why I put him forward as a likely option a while ago. The connection is strong with this one. Not sure he is actually what we need though, but the likely appointment and what should be the appointment is very likely to be worlds apart.

But to be financially sustainable we need more than a ground that's in good enough nick. And that's the whole point of this one-off capital windfall. The money is in three pots, effectively. Immediate cash (around 400K), then another pot that is specifically ear-marked to pay off debts, but the third pot has to go to ground and infrastructure improvements and revenue generating projects (or building cash reserves). If it doesn't hit those boxes you don't get it, so if we want the cash (thought to be around 24 million for non-host counties) that's what we need to do. I'm not aware there's any fixed timetable nor fixed instalment arrangement in place, e.g. capital sums paid over a fixed period - a viable business plan is the tigger for release of capital (that could be subject to milestones being reached etc but that's perfectly normal with any financing of a long term project). But it is linked to specific amounts that you have to apply for to progress the capital project; no funds get release to cover operational costs (other than the initial cash amount). And getting in 24/25 million free capital means that then raising around 35 million becomes more achievable, rather than a 60 million capital cost. The debt allocation is completely separate to the future looking capital allocation to improve financial self sufficiency. So pigs may well fly, and oddly, we seem better placed than most. We can spend it on genuine development and not just fixing decaying stands etc. that Lancashire may have to do. I understand that there are counties who stupidly increased player and staffing costs in anticipation of getting the money but they clearly didn't pay attention. And Middlesex is being disappointed that they're not getting Hundred money to augment their executive, for example. I do feel for Middlesex, but a lot of their issues are now due to not owning their ground.

Yep, heβs playing in the Royal Windsor Cup at the Guards Polo Club on 2 June. No doubt a few interviews may be fitted around the match.

Only 80?

True. I was looking at it more recently from the PL to 2. Because to start off with the massive head start that PL money gives you and to drop that far down you would think shouldn't be achievable.

Martin is genuinely awful. His only decent achievement was getting Southampton promoted, but then under his management they went on such a bad run it broke records. Otherwise it's appalling (with a bit of help from Google): Milton Keynes Dons (2019β2021): finishing 19th and 13th in League One. Swansea City (2021β2023): 15th and 10th in the Championship. Southampton (2023β2024): Did get them to promotion to the Premier League. Fired for a run of bad results leaving them bottom of the table with 5 points from 16 matches. So much damage done that on the basis of games left to play, it remains the earliest relegation in PL history. Rangers (2025): 123 days, 17 matches. Won 5, a win rate that is the lowest in Ranger's 120+ year history He'll break records alright. No club has ever been relegated three times in consecutive seasons. Yet.

The only example I can think of that's similar is Coventry. It's not been disclosed how much was paid for the actual club. The stadium cost around 50 million, leaving Ashley (how paid around 15 million for it out of administration with a nice 30 million profit). But he'd have cleared the debts of around 60 million and then some more cash to recapitalise it. But our debt is way higher. So while there's a lot of talk of a takeover, I am genuinely struggling to think why we would be attractive on a buyout, or why any one would want to invest money in at this point. Unless the ground is part of the package, it would be madness to invest in. So I can only think that it must be a package deal to have any legs.

Well Vardy's now out of contract. His deal was for 1 year, with an extension of 1 year if they avoided relegation. Which they didn't. We could be vying for his signature along with Sheffield Wednesday after all.... *places cat down carefully among the pigeons*
