  1. If there's truly no real advantage gained, I would expect the rule to be abolished. However, Leeds were only fined because there was no explicit rule banning it - so they were hit with a charge of being Mean and Sneaky with Intent. But presumably all teams agreed that it did give a real and unfair advantage which led to the rule being written and put in force in the first place. But it's also the reason why the ban only exists for 72 hours before the match - general watching/intel gathering otherwise is ok. It's because of the closeness of the match concerned that the team will be practising tactics designed for that particular team. Set pieces are a valuable goal scoring opportunity, and if you know how they're going to take their corners and free kicks close to goal against your team, you do have a big advantage. You may be able to adapt to the first call, but that's why they'll have rehearsed a number of moves - there's a big difference between having to react and adapt on the hoof, and knowing in advance the moves they will make. You'll be able to spoil the move much quicker.

  6. Agree - despite the Β£10,000s per week, seems most players need some other incentive to put a shift in nowadays. Ironically the Cup might be the only game they put in some effort because it’s the only hope of European football. Can’t see them trying in the league any more. They’re stuck in 9th and probably aren’t going to improve that much. The fans won’t like it, but I don’t think they’ll be the opposition they would’ve been in the past for Spurs.

  9. For the first two matches at least the batting looked like we might get some drawn games, but again, the bowling's weakness lets them put together a 400 plus total and with our batting now falling well short, it's another almost certain loss. I can't see us eking out a lead of even 150, and Sussex will knock that off in a session.
  10. I am struggling to think how it could have been planned and managed any worse. This 10 year anniversary hasn't snuck up on anyone. We've known for a decade the date. Slightly tongue in cheek there, but it should have been announced at the beginning of the season. If they'd filled in a few of the details, most importantly the date, they'd have probably sold far more tickets by Christmas than it looks like they'll sell now, or even be able to fill without giving away for free a huge number of tickets. Holding back a few names as a surprise is a well-known marketing ruse, but announcing nothing with less than a month to go about who will be taking part (other than Ranieri's managing and Morgan is captain of the Leicester team) is only a sure fire way of guaranteeing you're going to get virtually no interest. As people assume (and the club can't blame them for this) if you're not mentioning at least 11/22 of the players by now, then with possibly a couple of exceptions, it's going to be a real scraping of the barrel line up. Which is directly the cause of poor sales - they've not given anything to get remotely interested or excited about. About the only way to salvage something now is to accept that they've lost and turned off many of the fan base they've taken for granted and treated so badly. Frankly, the entire Comms and Marketing team should be fired. As it will need a rebuild, approach this "celebration" as looking more forward, not back. Take advantage of the new ST holders, who have picked up tickets because they want to build a family and friends tradition of going to see matches together, which they couldn't do before because STs weren't available. As someone else has suggested, have a Leicester PL winning team v the Academy. Have training sessions or mini matches with all ages - mainly kids would work best, and they can say that they have played football at LCFC's stadium. If it's done in the right spirit, make the adults match very much a fun thing that isn't taken seriously - get local club/amateur teams/fans to see how they really do stack up against former PL standard players and good academy players. Got to be better than an XI a side filled with players hardly anyone wants to watch. So get the fans involved in doing something on the pitch that is a unique opportunity. That's about the only positive approach I can think of now.

  13. I'm clearly missing something - but why on earth are they taking off blocks of seats from general sale? The only thing I can think of, and I wondered whether it would come to this when the Athena evening was cancelled, was that they intend to paper it. I know sometimes blocks are released bit by bit to build up sales, but it looks like these were available to begin with. So they're either trying a block by block, or they're going to give away huge numbers of seats, bit like the ECB did with the first year of the Hundred, to drum up attendance.
  14. Nice reverse jinx there. Keep it up!!
  15. He's not injured, but I'd be surprised if he's fallen out of favour given he's scored two centuries in April for them. They're playing Kent on Friday. But he was brought in to cover Will Rhodes, so I suspect at 35 his role is now as squad cover, in and out of the squad for any particular match and not guaranteed a place in the XI. His spin may be useful, but we need first string bowlers!
  16. This is summing up the real issue we've got this season. We just don't get wickets when we need to. And don't look at all likely to take 20 in a match. Don't think a combination of draws with the odd loss thrown in is going to be good enough.

  23. Well I didn't think Bayern would come back from 5-2 down in the first leg, so I'm not writing them off yet.
