  1. I think this is the big problem, the wage bill is huge for players we probably don't even want and we can;t get shot of them because of whatever genius negotiated the contracts.
  2. Well perhaps we're mortgaged up to the eyeballs with the training ground, etc? Either way if there is no money despite the 50 million or so left over from Fofana then where else has it gone?
  3. I can't see why it isn't down to him, he doesn't strike me as the sort who would let any interference ride at all hence his dissatisfaction with the stance in the summer. He's got nothing to fear on his payout either for sticking two fingers up if we signed someone he didn't want. So unfortunately I believe it is down to him at least 75% and possibly 25% of whoever in the boardroom said "OK, Brendan!".
  4. No not in terms of investment but we clearly have players like Bertrand, et al on decent contracts with good wages sucking up any latitude we've got. You can forgive players not working out but not wasting sums of money that leave us with our pants down.
  5. I still think we have a core of players who are good enough to get us out of this, but not without a fresh approach and some serious backside kicking.
  6. Well there won't be much, we've pissed most of it away on poor or ageing players wages and got a lovely new training ground to pay for.
  7. If players need a trainer on the field for an injury then they have to stay off for 5 minutes once they leave the field, 10 minutes for head injuries as well. That way we'll know how many injuries are genuine or not and would hopefully stop some of the piss-taking.
  8. With a lot of them it's confidence, and clearly they haven't got any at the moment. Vardy I do think will never be the same player, and I hope I can eat my words there, but I just don't think we can build the forward line around him like we did.
  9. We still have 9 of the team playing today that beat Man City 5-2 in 2020. I don't believe it's because they're all suddenly crap. It has to be because of the manager and the coaching staff or we're saying that we were never that good any way and were just lucky and I don't believe that.
  10. We don't have the players or confidence to do it. That buck stops at management and coaching level.
  11. If we could manage to do it for two halves of football we might be OK, but that's our big failing and why we're not getting anywhere. We always give ourselves too much to do.
  12. It's not that we need so much as a better work ethic and doing the basics right. We can't expect flashes of brilliance to win games if we're leaking like a sieve and collapsing under pressure.
  13. We need a striker with a bit of pace and a bit of a target man and we need to play them and Vardy up front as a 2.
  14. Mendy looked far more lively in 20 mins than Wilf did for 70 mins!
  15. One of the few who consistently put the effort in even if he's not up to the standard we need. I'd rather slate those who just waltz around stealing a living.
  16. We need a proven striker as well.
  17. Barnes you mug! Why touch him?!
  18. Shows we should have committed more men sooner I think.
  19. Could stick Perez up with him, yes he's paper light but at least it might give us something more to aim at.
  20. We need to strengthen everywhere really. There shouldn't be any sacred cows when it comes to buying players to challenge for positions and we need solid cover, even if it's solid but unspectacular players in some areas as back up. I think before we worry about Europe or trophies in any meaningful sense we need to become solid again. Teams should hate playing us, whether it'e because we're mean at the back or hit teams hard and fast (hopefully both!) but that's what we have to aim for as a priority.
  21. We've got a bad habit here of players in positions they aren't comfortable with or cut out for.
  22. Well we're always going to hope to do that, but that is a long term goal, we have to work with what we have in the most efficient way we can for now. I don't believe that Nacho and Daka aren't good goal scorers, we've all seen them do it, but they've suffered from being asked to play like Vardy which is not what they are about.
  23. The chances of us finding another Vardy or keeping this one going are slim, we have to play to the advantages of the strikers we have. If nothing else we could try and score more than we concede at the moment!
  24. I don't think I'd play Nacho like that, his best games have been as part of a 2 striker up top approach IMO.
