Interesting perception some people hold regarding a potential change to the Away priority points system… I was at Swansea yesterday behind two men who must have been well into their seventies. And I quote, “they’re trying to get rid of us old ones!” And yet I see these two men at every away game. Consequently, if the final decision is to scrap the 50 points per season for holding a Home ST and to introduce a 3 or 4 year rolling attendance at away games, then these two men will be in the top priority as they attend every away game. And they should remain in the top priority, if they continue to attend away games, as they are committed, loyal and dedicated fans who attend away games, and will continue to go to away games, not because they have had a Home ST for decades but that they attend away games. ‘Attend’ is the key word. That means going to the game and not just buying a ticket only to sell it! NB – I am a ST holder who ‘voted’ to scrap the 50 points per season for holding a Home ST.

Millwall (A) - 3pm, Sat 25 October

I've been to the Den the last couple of times we recently played them; once in the league under Enzo and once in the Cup and never witnessed any trouble or felt under threat. If you go on a coach, it parks right outside the away fans entrance, in an area where only away fans are allowed. Before the game I walked around the ground, with my City shirt on, and shared a table with Millwall fans as I ate food from one of the many venders. After the game I walked to the local underground station, albeit now with a sweatshirt over my City shirt as I’m not stupid, and took the tube into central London. No problems. -
I was there and, after listening to all the rational and positive comments regarding the need to change the away points system, I came away thinking change would be forthcoming this season – but no. But as they say … ‘It’s the hope that kills you’! Although I did hear murmurings about a ‘survey’ to be held in the next few months / years / decades / millennium (delete as appropriate).

It is my understanding the English national team use a 'three-year rolling attendance' to enable those who go to the games consistently to determine the priority for purchasing tickets. The idea of three years, rather than one, is to allow for a situation that if someone becomes ill or injured for part of a season, or has a change in personal or financial circumstances, then they still retain some priority points but would drop down the priority slightly. (If that makes sense!) I would support that process if the club went down that route, but the important element of that process is ‘those who go to the games’ and not those who buy tickets just to keep their priority points high.
-
Correct! The current system gives those further down the food chain absolutely no incentive to purchase a ticket (in their own name), in regards earning a priority point. Too often you must make a choice; stay at home or obtain a ticket by other means, even though by doing so, you perpetuate the very system that prevents you buying a ticket in the first place. To be honest, I’m totally disillusioned that the club are doing f**k all about it, other than to use words such as ‘review’, ‘looking at it’ and ‘consultation’.

I’m welcome one if possible as it didn’t come down to my priority level. Thank you -
People can chant whatever they wish, as people say are keen to say, they paid hard-earned cash to watch the team etc but I’m saying ….how does it help, during a match, when we are not performing well, for the players to hear such negativity from their own supporters
-
And I'm asking you...do you believe booing, during the game, helps to increase the level of performance? Abdul seems to suggest it does not, but hey, what does he know!
-
What exactly do you want my thoughts on? The performance of specific players, which was far below then standard I would expect, or whether I would boo players during a game? If the latter, then I don’t do that, as I do not consider it productive.
-
Good to hear you were amongst those booing but my contention is, and always will be, that how does booing players or singing derogatory songs about the DOF, during the game, actually help? I think the DOF song started at around 5 minutes, before Preston even scored. FFS!

Who's John?
-
Well at least that's one postive bit of news!
-
So you think I'm the problem.... that hilarious! Nowhere did I say I 'felt Rudkin is doing a great job'! The length of contracts that have been given, with the inflated salaries he has dished out are ridiculous. My point is, and to confirm it is a serious one, I consider singing anti-Rudkin songs during the game instead of backing the players on the pitch is counterproductive and does F**k All to spur on the players. No sure why you don’t get that!
-
I responded, please try to keep up lad
-
No, I don't! Please elaborate??
-
My opinion!

I assume you were one of those in full voice!

I have returned from Deepdale, also endured the awful display at Huddersfield and will be at The Valley on Saturday but, the worst performance today was not on the pitch. In my opinion, that dubious ‘honour’ goes to our ‘fans’ in the Bill Shankly Kop. When the loudest, and most frequent song heard from that stand, was not a chant giving much-needed support for our players on the pitch, but was an obscene song about Rudkin, then I agree, our fanbase we are a part of the problem, a big part. The Sheffield Wednesday showed us, last Sunday, how real fans support their team, and their plight is far, far worse than ours! I'd rather those individuals would just stay away. Embarrassing!
