Iversen was following the model of successful loans to the Championship that then led to first team opportunities (like Barnes, KDH), which made many believe he would be competing with Ward for that #2 spot. I don't think many begrudged Ward a chance, but we didn't need many games to see he clearly wasn't up to it.
We don't know what was said or promised when Iversen signed his last deal, but the way we blocked his moves away for the past 3-4 windows when he was essentially never more than third choice (Stolarczyk and Ward were ahead when Maresca joined), is likely not what he was told.
He was paid handsomely yes, but it did little to progress his career.
In that way I can see why it's suggested he "hasn't been treated well".
