Toxic club - an inconvenient truth about our fans
shen replied to LeePhilpottsBaldSpot's topic in Leicester City Forum
I wish you a full and speedy recovery from your depression. As mentioned, it feels clear your intentions are good. It might well help people to get all that negativity off their chest - posting on a forum can have the same cathartic effect as screaming into a pillow. Probably best if you just avoid those threads altogether - in fact, I'd argue it's a bit naïve to think that a thread labeled Harry Winks, Jordan Ayew and King Power Out etc will contain anything you'd appreciate in your current situation. -
Jordan Ayew - NEVER PLAYING FOR LEICESTER AGAIN!!!
shen replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Hindsight is beautiful. It was still peanuts compared to the massive amount wasted on Skipp. We reportedly spent the same as Ayew on Golding (who?) in an FFP exercise (fat load of good that did us, huh?), so we definitely made worse deals that summer. Ayew still contributed 5 goals in our worst ever PL side, so he did at least make some contribution, albeit not a telling one. But he was well and truly abject last season. -

How ironic to retort with a fully toxic post. You're no better than those you spite when you communicate like this. -

How is that in any way worse than the leadership at the club? At worst it can be categorized as naïve or misguided, but OP clearly has good intentions. Just like it's OK to complain about the club, it's also OK to say that all this complaining and negativity reinforces or perpetuates negativity, which affects some more than others. I acknowledge that sentiment, but I discard the notion that 'negative' fans are at all to blame for the club's demise. They might be partly responsible for ruining the fan experience of other more positive-outlook fans, but I think it's largely justified in this case. -
Bit wrinkly that ballsack...

Clear free kick anywhere else on the pitch. Rules are no different inside the box, which is why you don't go flying into tackles there. You learn this in the U-8s. -

You worded it a bit clumsily then. I read it in a way that verbal violence or threats in person is likely more effective than moaning online, which it probably is, but it's also very wrong. I'd advocate Manwell's method of just stop giving the club money. That's the most effective way - even if it won't necessarily hurt the personal wallets of the owners, I guarantee it will be far more monitored in-house than some placards or chants. -

Make that three goal contributions in 20 minutes. Supersub. -

Harsh. Per international standards, not many sides bring much fluid football. They're punching regularly above their weight and getting the most out of their personnel. -

Vargas with a goal and assist in 15 minutes. How Ndoye who did absolutely naff all except a fancy bicycle kick started ahead of Vargas is baffling. You could say it was the right decision given the impact, but the difference is quite stark. -

Terrible defending for the goal. Bosnia have been largely disappointing. Difficult to understand that Italy couldn't beat these. -

Becoming violent is never 'more acceptable', why accept devolution as a way forward? My view is that many fans need to finally understand that football is a business. Clubs are businesses and many of them are vessels for billionaire owners who don't care for the local communities much if at all. Fans are consumers of a product, a product that has been cultured through years of loyal servitude, traditions and community building which is now being monetized and siphoned by wealthier folk. So fans should change their perspective and treat it as what it is and not keep thinking professional football is something it hasn't been for years and years. -

Fans are toxic because something they care for is being destroyed. They have no power other than to pay (or abstain from paying) and voice their opinions in the stadium or online. They literally have no say in the running of the club besides what the board/owners will allow. If you view this as an outcry rather than just a convenient channel to convey negative emotions, then it becomes clear that fans are just trying to tell the board, directly and indirectly, that they don't approve of the running of the club or performances on the pitch. It's bizarre to call for more positivity when fan experience has generally gone (way) down, the affordability has gone down, the performances on and off the pitch have fallen off a cliff and fans feel ignored on the whole. The choices really are to stay and fight for improvement (e.g. by communicating displeasure) or simply walk away. I'm sure there are plenty of local clubs in your area that will have great fan experiences you can take your children to. I realize this might rub many football fans the wrong way, but just because you were suckered into falling in love as a child doesn't make you duty bound to stay loyal at all costs. It really isn't that different to love or loyalty in other parts of life. -
That is surreal. Stuff like this will only make budgets even murkier going forward.

And "everyone" were proven right about Cooper, it was a disaster. He's since been found out in Denmark as well. But either way, it can't have been "everyone". Because judging by the video images of the stands towards the end of last season, there were still PLENTY of supporters clapping the truly abject performances that the team served up. If anything, this fanbase has been slow to pick up on the coffee smell. -
Norway blew away Sweden inside 30 minutes a couple of weeks ago. I think if you finish bottom in a group with Switzerland, Kosovo and Slovenia, you have too many flaws to go deep in this tournament. Yes. He's made a name at FC Copenhagen over two spells, but hasn't done much of note outside of Scandinavia.

@StanSP Maybe an idea to edit the OP with the drawn teams and participant names?

He has aged about 30 years in the last ten!

Because you can seemingly play with 12 men? Edit: Aren't the Welsh known for being able to count groups on grass fields?

It's going to improve the coaching of players and give you a boost to your rep (i.e. will help getting/retaining players of a higher caliber), so it does matter a bit

Fate is making us pay a heavy price for that 0-9 win against Southampton! -
Losing three out of four against direct rivals, and by the odd goal only. That hurts. You must have felt pretty confident going into that Everton game. Did you win 6 on the bounce before that?
