I don't think it was the worst play by Stephen, people would be expecting traitors to go against traitors at this point and it would have looked suspicious if he changed his vote. That Jack is as hopeless as Roxy absolutely no way he deserves anything out of this
-
Do you prefer Talbot or Broadway?
-
Ah think i've found it now. Looks like the restaurant is called Naaz Ka Dhaba. Will try and give it a go!
-
Somebody else mentioned this to me a few years ago, but they don't seem to do any marketing. Is it good? Busy?
-
Also been meaning to go for a while. The opening times always seemed a bit odd. Am i right in saying it's only open lunchtimes and Saturday evening?
-
As in the same people as the Wyvern? I swear them and the Broadway people are trying to take over Leicester!
-
If I only had one day there, I'd be best off doing the Kelham Island ones right?
-
Still need to do the Sheffield pubs. Looks superb

I often find myself procrastinating until it's the round table. The challenges have always been a bit pointless tbf. They need to find a way to align the tasks to finding traitors

Cricket (None Leicestershire County Cricket Club)
Chris_OGrady replied to leicsmac's topic in General Football and Sport
I think cricket fans have a bit more backbone than football fans. Maybe because it's had to absorb far less plastics. I really, really hope this utter shower of shite falls on it's arse. Every diehard cricket fan i know is completely against the 100 and is avoiding it. We need to start hounding anyone we know who is attending this stuff (likely to be casual cricket fans) . It doesn't help when you have high profile celebrities (admittedly i doubt any are actual cricket fans) and people like Michael Vaughan promoting this rubbish, just shows that money corrupts all! -
Jessie seems to have picked up on Stephen's reaction to his fellow traitor leaving (Fiona), but then absolutely noone seems to have picked up on the impromptu blow up between Fiona and Rachel... Baffling
-
I thought the whole Fiona vs Rachel bust up was pretty damning evidence that Rachel was likely a traitor, especially when Fiona was revealed to be a traitor. It came out of absolutely nowhere, and this is consistent with previous series where traitors turn on each other out of the blue and it has a slightly greater edge to it. Why would it just blow up like that unless there was something greater to it. I was surprised Harriet didn't play on this more because she called it right straight after the original incident happened.

Was in Lough last night. Castle Rock sold the Swan in the Rushes to Punch last year. They’ve just refurbed it (it probs needed a bit of a facelift) and all the hand pumps have gone to be replaced by those big, standalone Madri, Cruzcampo and Beamish taps. It was obv pretty dead, as I presume none of the old crowd will go there anymore and it was early Jan. I suppose their only hope is students (the perfect Beamish!), but it’s a shame to see a half decent pub become another completely pointless pub.

Not Leicester, but the Szechuan in Loughborough does very good Chinese food - it's always full of Chinese students from the uni. Not one to take the Mrs to, as it's very basic inside, but the food is much more authentic and less greasy than your standard UK Chinese
-
Can also confirm that Casa Romana was incredibly average when I went about a year ago
-
How does it perform on the dommage test?
-
I think Rachel could probably have discussed it with the other traitors first and then told everyone in the morning (admittedly though this could backfire). You need to keep your other traitors happy (at least at the beginning), whereas she is just so obv in it for herself. Fiona has completely messed it up for the both of them. Stephen now in the prime seat!

A lot of the Australian team performed not great. They just had 3 players who performed excellently, whereas we had nobody at that level. A combined 11 would be more balanced than the scoreline suggests. I think Baz needs to go. He seemed fairly delusional and unwilling to change in the post match interview with Nas. Reminds me a bit of England under Southgate. Time to move on

I think Dublin is good fun, but you could arguably do a more interesting pub crawl in Leicester I've done a lot of the rated pubs there (the atmosphere and vibes are great) but the beer selection is identical in every one, and you can basically only drink Diageo or Heineken products...

It funny how "the best pint of Guinness" isn't at the Guinness Storehouse or their brewery. It's some random pub in the suburbs of Dublin or the Devonshire in Soho. If you go to somewhere like Adnams or Harveys, the best and freshest pints are from the brewery tap. This is because they are actually fresh and do vary from venue to venue...

It's a brand that has genuine heritage and history. It's a shame it's now owned by a multination corporation (like most historical beer brands), who is most likely using bottom of the barrel ingredients and trying to make it as cheaply as possible each year. It will be a shame if the corporate nitro stouts become the new lager, and you have identical, mass produced stouts like Guinness, Murphys, Beamish taking up all the taps. TBH that will only happen in the kind of places a lot of people on this thread avoid. It's cool in Ireland because it feel slightly authentic, whereas here it's just a bit naff.

Ultimately, you would need to do blind taste testing to know the answer. I've done blind taste testing on mates who had very strong opinions on macro lagers and, without fail, every time it has proven to be all in their head. A lot of the current "Guinness Connoisseurs" are just following the latest fad and don't know what they're talking about. There will be a new trend in a couple of years time as one of the big breweries' marketing team will come up with something clever. Most people who have always drank Guinness know its just a bland, sessionable, mass produced beer (not some kind of artisan, craft product worthy of fine inspection). They'll be the ones still enjoying it once the trend is over!

I believe, in theory, it should be no different to Carling and John Smiths. It's a keg stout which is pasteurised/filtered, so the yeast is killed off meaning it lasts for ages. It just needs keeping at the right temp, lines cleaning, and the CO2/nitrogen to be at the right pressure, and to be served properly (basically all the same standard stuff you'd need for Carling and John Smiths). I probably would have fallen for the "perfect Guinness" allure in my 20s. I'm sure there are places that do it better than others, but this is also true of all mainstream lagers. Coming from the CAMRA nerd perspective, it's a shame as there's so many more interesting beers to drink in this country, and independent breweries to support. Like I said above, Heineken are going to be all over this with their Beamish and Murphys brands and we'll have to watch the same thing unfold over 2026.

It's basically John Smiths with excellent marketing. I think it would be fascinating to work in beer marketing. For mainstream beer the glass and logo are more important than the actual beer.
