  1. I don't think the story will be that related, a bit like Dragon Age with that it is set in the same world as previous games.

This http://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/35fz2u/the_witcher_a_complete_recap_of_the_first_two/is a good read and will give you an idea what happened in the first two.

I'm so tempted to buy Witcher at launch, it seems similar to Skyrim which I enjoyed a lot.

That's encouraging. I enjoyed Skyrim but I'm not really a massive RPG nut. Fallout and Skyrim are about my only forays into the RPG world - both of which I enjoyed immensely

  2. a while ago now, I was queuing in the rush hour to come off the motorway. Some nob in a BMW decided he didn't want to join the queue and drove up lane 2 trying to squeeze in. Mainly because he looked a complete nob I decided to defend my position (which was now nearly at the critical point before the lanes separated). He eventually accepted defeat and him and his mate came alongside a few metres further up the road and slowed down to give me the full hand gesture treatment. Unfortunately for him this slightly distracted him and he drove straight in to the van in front of him with a sickening crunch. I laughed my bollocks off, gave him the bird, and went on my way.

    Briliant!

  3. Not played any of the previous ones, but like others have said, I've looked at the trailers and it looks very good. Will definitely pick this up on PS4 at some point.

  4. Looked brilliant, my son loved it. I would definitely be prepared to donate a few quid a month or whatever for more of these.

Can't really help with setting up as I tend to coach my son's team on a Saturday morning but if I can contribute financially, I will.

  5. Off for my first visit of 2015 to the Lakes this weekend. Just a one nighter this time.

Planning to do Red Pike and Haystacks from Buttermere. Not the highest peak but a good walk all the same.

Weather looks a bit iffy but fingers crossed!

  6. Reckon I might splash out on a HTC One M9, comes out at the end of the month. Anyone got the M8?

I have an M8 - had it about four months now. I like it - it performs good and the camera is very good considering it has less than brilliant reviews, but then I really just use it for snaps of the kids and stuff.

Battery life is not brilliant, but probably no worse than most of the others out there, and is likely depleted by the number of apps and stuff I have running so I'm sure it could be improved with more efficient use.

  7. Been playing it over the weekend and it is a dream to play. Got a small, bustling town building up and it seems alive with cars, lorries and buses moving around the streets as you'd expect. Not even touched the modded stuff yet but there is tonnes of it to choose from.

The more I play it, the harder it is to understand what the hell they were playing at with Sim City 2013.

  8. Are the default maps set, or do they randomise each time you start a new game?

There are a few default maps (ten or so I think) but there is a terrain editor so you can create your own and loads you can import from the community.

  9. Is it quicker starting than that Banished? I enjoyed it but it was too slow to be lasting.

Yes, much quicker than Banished. Possibly too quick at times when there is a lot going on, but you can always pause it while you build new power stations, roads etc..

  10. Someone already modded a first person mode!

Played this until 2am last night. Used the "paint district" tool to plan out my town before I started which worked much better. But still had to build a new relief road through my perfectly sculpted park!

This game is brilliant, and will keep getting better.

And Igfualol - the game runs really well, even on my "not very special" laptop - on the highest graphics!

  11. Had a bit of a play on this last night, although not for as long as I wanted. Very pleased with it so far. If you're a fan of the genre, then this is the best City Builder in at least 10 years.

It takes everything that was good about Sim City 4 and improves on it and makes none of the catastrophic mistakes EA made with Sim City 2013 such as charging £60 for a game which you could only play online, with a very small city size and then charging more and more for DLC.

This game is primarily (perhaps entirely?) a single player game and it has mod support so expect to see a raft of extras very soon.

And you can have left hand drive roads which might sound like a small detail, but I've never seen it in a city builder before.

If you like this type of game, there is very little to get upset about here. And it was only £22!

  12. Have now ordered this, based on what I have seen so far. Looks like the game Sim City should have been. The road making tools look great. Love the fact you can name individual districts and set different policies for them.

    It should unlock tomorrow evening!

  13. The last game required a ridiculous pc to run, and had horrendous memory leak problems. If they've sorted those two problems out I may take a look.

I think it was Cities XL from a different developer which had the memory leak. The guys behind Skylines previously worked on Cities In Motion which is primarily a transport manager rather than a City Builder.

  14. Been following this one for a while. Looks pretty good. After the flop of Sim City - which I actually think is ok, but it is massively hampered by the tiny city size, I've been looking for a good city builder.

Cities XL (recently upgraded at Cities XXL) doesn't do it for me, so everything rests on Skylines being good.

    Will defo be getting this!

  15. if every cat in the world died it'd be a better world imo

A cat is just an inferior version of a dog. Disloyal, flea ridden, evil bastards. If your cat could, it would eat you in a heartbeat....

  16. Yeah I like that it's considered easy. I understand why but it's also, in equal parts, horrendous.

Helvellyn via Striding Edge may be technically far more challenging but no part of it is as physically tiring as that slope!

Having said that, I sprinted down that stretch last time we went and that was enormous fun, if occasionally a little hairy. #sturdyankles

Yeah I did think about running down. It almost seems like a good idea when you're doing that downhill walking, bracing each step with clenches of all your leg muscles. But I figured if I started to run then it would only end badly....

  17. Skiddaw and the George pies! Great weekend!!

Both favourites of ours. That and the sandwich shop round the corner from the George. We like Skiddaw, after that awful first incline, it's a simple walk but it's usually very empty and in my opinion has some of the best views in the area.

Did you go up via Latrigg or did you drive up to Skiddaw?

Via Latrigg. The first incline (after the car park) is a right bastard. I see that all the guide books call it an "easy" walk. I suppose it is not technically difficult, and easy to navigate but it certainly made my 41 year old ass sweat a bit! The cow pie in the George was absolutely fantastic and the breakfast also not bad.

That's three "weekenders" this year which is not bad for a guy with a busy job and family. Already planning a walk up Haystacks in April and then Scafell Pike (probably in June - will need a long day!)

  18. one bad memory though was driving up one of the dodgy steep as shit passes in.our crappy fiat punto N it was overheating, the clutch was smoking and i was shitting we were going over...very scary drive!!!

Yes, the Hardnott Pass is not for the faint hearted.

  19. Just got back from another splendid weekend. Stayed in The George in Keswick (absolutely splendid, monster sized meat pies). Climbed Skiddaw and Little Man. Not the most challenging mountain, but great view on the way up . Summit shrouded in cloud though but a good time had by all!

  20. I'm due an upgrade and can't decide between htc one m8 or Sony Xperia z3.

Anyone on here got either and what do you reckon to them?

I am also due an upgrade soon and these two seem to be top of my shortlist (along with the S5). Had an ill fated experiment with a Windows Phone for the last two years and although it's good in a few ways, it is mostly shite in lots of others. So I'm definitely going back to Android.

I really like the look of the M8 but the Xperia (and the S5) are waterproof, which considering I destroyed my S3 by dropping it down the toilet may be a good selling point!
