  1. Which would make sense if we were desperate to bring in new players. We are not, if we don't sign anyone we'll still be the best/strongest team in the league. And the only player we've been linked to plays the same position and only cost 2M. If the rumour is true i suspect it has nothing to do with being a necessity to bring in someone else - if it was for that reason, in footballing terms, we'd be robbing peter to pay paul!
  2. But that contradicts current thinking. If we were prepared to spend 37M on the strength of future sales, then surely we could spend 2M on the strength of literally selling anyone in the future?
  3. But if FFP was a problem in 2023, why would we be spending when in 2022 (when it actually was a problem) we spent nothing?
  4. Exactly, and look how quickly we sold players to facilitate those purchases. If they were genuinely prepared to sell KDH they'd have done it weeks ago.
  5. for exactly the reasons that i suggested
  6. Totally different thing - they took a decision to abide by FFP rules (clever now when we see how everton have been punished) with the hope that they would still have enough to survive (which, on paper, was a reasonable assumption at th etime). A KDH sale is about the idea of risking a payment to really strengthen our FFP position just to make a quick hit that will have a far more limited impact on FFP. If they made that first decision to follow FFP, it would follow suit that they would go for the big boost rather than the minor
  7. Because it seems unlikely and out of character. He's playing the best football of his career under Maresca, a guaranteed starter in a team looking likely to be in the PL next year; and i can't see it being a massive pay rise to move to brighton, there doesn't seem to be an obvious indicator that he's looking to bail so close to being back at the top level.
  8. The FFP argument doesn't make sense. Take 30M now and severely weaken our chance of getting promoted Or get promoted and have a 100M TV income boost. From an FFP perspective there's a huge advantage in not selling. And even if we sell, there's no guarantee that Brighton would pay the whole amount up front, so it's unlikely it would improve our current FFP balance.
  9. If Cole Palmer can attract a value of 50-odd million, i'm sure we could ask for something similar for a guy with several seasons of regular first team football.
  10. As ITK as he may be, no one but 3 people in the world really know what we would accept for a player. He may well be right to say brighton have asked about KDH, but any valuation has to be pure guesswork...
  11. Not really - if we say no and he doesn't play again, we could sell him in the summer as a 'english PL prem player' for twice that.
  12. Could have had a hat-trick
  13. I'll pass on that 'fix' - even though, as a child, i went on stage with showaddywaddy to do some 50s dance thing. But always Family for me. I believe i've been sat on some such board as well, but probably at the barbers on Rosemead Drive in Oadby, I only went to Ron's when i was in my late teens.
  14. Well, no - if you can accept that even with a player less we survived at 1-0 until the 80th minute then it's neither far fetched or arrogant to believe that had we had 11 men we would have had not only a better chance to have lasted that final 10 minutes, but would have been in a position to push on and improve on what we had already managed in the first half. It was clear that by the end the extra work of having a player less was the difference. Not to mention that coventry would not have benefitted from the psychological boost they clearly received following the red card. For sure we don't know what might have happened, but it's reasonably fair to say that our position would have been very different and considerably stronger had we finished the game 11v11 - that's not madness, that's just basic common sense.
  15. After making a return to the city last week i was sad to see that Ron's barbers on churchgate is gone - i guess he retired. Also - has anyone mentioned the best band to have come out of the city? Family. Not to mention our great writers: C.P. Snow. E. Phillips Oppenheim Joe Orton Sue Townsend (mentioned elsewhere) Julian Barnes
  16. MG Discs?
  17. Good to see he can take free kicks as that's a dead area for us since madders went....
  18. Sure. but if you ask enzo, we probably fell a couple of players short in the summer, despite what we spent. I'd like to thin that things aren't so tight and it's just the club doing a good job of playing the 'we're skint' card to counter the 'look how much they spent in summer' card and that the delay is just logistics and contracts and terms rather than one-in-one-out.
  19. I understand this from the point of view of how late and lucky their goals were, and how we should have taken 6 points. But realistically, it's two games less and four points missed out on in ipswich's pursuit of us. So they should still be looked upon as positive results, especially if as it's also 2 of our hardest game done and dusted.
  20. Even with the red card, we were still 1-0 up with 80 minutes played. To think that with 11 players we'd have not increased that total or, at the very least, held on to it, is madness.
  21. And yet still created more chances than Ipswich. I'm pretty sure if you asked any neutral they'd say - 'yeah, another day that's 3-1 leicester' - we all know we were the better team, we all know we created more and better chances, we all know that they didn't really threaten us til they got a lucky goal. I'm don with this silly conversation.
  22. Touché - fewer people are complaining.
  23. BUt if we get promoted we'll have a massive income boost - i think they'll know to not go over the limit, but it should be enough, especially with the losses of a few years back dropping off the accounts.
