  1. To assume that such a situation is the absolute truth is a little naive - i though you might know better than this. Smoke and mirrors, Sir. For a club in the EFL that spent so much in the summer, unless we come out with some such story, teams are just going to hike up their prices. it sounds like we could have sold souttar, but clearly chose not to, which suggests that things aren't quite as bad as they're making out.
  2. Sure there are games when we haven't been at our best, but even against Leeds we weren't 'poor' - poor was what we were last season. As for the comparison with rodgers - there's a whole thread here showing exactly why there is almost nothing to compare, other than perhaps superficially. rodger's negativity ended with us playing one dimensionally along the back line, maresca has us playing across the back but via the midfielders and the goalie - it's massively different.
  3. but even that is better than being criticised when you're doing a good job. which is what's happening at the KP. If people aren't happy, fair enough - but keep it to yourselves, people.
  4. One of the most miserable and negative comments in this thread. Apart from the fact that we never just lum pit to the wingers and hope, exactly when and where have we been poor?
  5. yeah, but common sense suggests that there's a time and a place for critique, and when we're 3-0 up or whatever doesn't seem to be it. Anyone who has a job wants to be acknowledged as doing their job well, if you do a poor job, then expect criticism, but if you're the best guy in the company and someone complains if you linger over your coffee break you might just think - føkk this, i'm the best person here and i'm getting shit because i take my time making my coffee. And as for our 'problems' - time to have some perspective, if this is us with problems, then it's clearly problems we can deal with - or should we, do we, as a fanbase, expect perfection
  6. But why is this a problem - it's not complacency or sloppiness, it's a part of our game management. If we don't take time just to play passively, to allow the opposition their moment, then it will be us that becomes tired out. I get that it can be perceived as dangerous, but so far it really hasn't been - look at the figures for points dropped from a winning position and you can see that our game plan is sound (especially as the one loss we only had 10 men).
  7. Which games are these - in the 6 games we've played in 2024 we've scored 3+ goals in four of them, only failing when playing with 10 men or against a very good Ipswich side. This is what is so hard to understand about all the moaning - in the last 6 games we've scored 15 goals - and probably could have had a lot more - and all people can do is pick up on the fact that at times we can be slower in our play - which, 30 something games in, you'd think people would have got used to by now.
  8. But that isn't the result of the way we play, that's the result of how the opposition play - if they don't commit, they don't commit - and if they don't commit, we usually try another approach. people are talking/acting like we stand there for minutes on end, doing nothing, but it isn't the case, i'm sure if it was measured it wouldn't be anywhere near as long as people are making out. Form my experience the groans tend to be reserved for when we push forwards AND THEN GO BACK - which seems to be particularly the case with Justin. It's almost like the fans have been patient, it looks like we're going forward, and then we go back, and then they groan.
  9. Curious to know, logistically, how this is even possible - just from traffic congestion?
  10. Was it a whine or was it...a challenge? It seems to me that he's calling out these people and making them realise how idiotic they are.
  11. He's a free agent in June - there'll be a lot more competition for him then.
  12. Am i the only one who read this and thought it said Ewing Oil?
  13. All reasonable points - but none of them relate to the style of play, which is what is being questioned here. What, reasonably, could maresca do or change to make the way we play less 'boring' without lowering the standard of our performances or jeopardising our sky high win rate?
  14. But saying what is ideal and then saying you don't expect to get it is rather pointless. I'd like a villa in the south of france but i don't expect to get it - i could post this and most people wouldn't care, a few people would brand me a knob for posting it - so the best thing to do is not to mention it.
  15. but this is exactly the problem - why isn't it good enough? Or do you mean, pretty enough or sexy enough; and for that matter what is enough - our goal difference is higher than the total goals scored by 10 teams in the league; last season in the entire championship only 5 teams scored more goals than we've scored so far - surely that suggests that from a quality point of view, we are not just 'good enough' we are exceptional. You say that you're not expecting of 90 minutes of free flowing football, then complain that there wasn't enough quality - how can you happily expect one thing and be dissatisfied when that outcome occurs? Can't you just be grateful that when it mattered we played some great football, and when we weren't setting the game on fire we were doing what we needed to do to prevent the opposition from scoring - isn't that the natural way of any football game? - your statement is everything that is wrong about the perception of what maresca has achieved.
  16. No, entitlement is about having your cake and eating it. Every fan expects or at least hopes to win every week. The problem we have here is that we are winning most weeks and they're still not happy because we aren't winning the way they'd like us to win ; they're assuming that because we're leicester we should be winning by multiple goals, that we shouldn't concede goals.
  17. I can't imagine what you deem exciting - for me it's goals and creating chances - we have the most goals and the highest xG, so there's plenty of excitement and we do it more often than almost anyone else. Not only that we've scored some fantastic goals this season, it's not like we're cardiff who have only scored 14 of their 35 goals from open play
  18. because it was the fans audibly moaning and groaning. There's been nothing to suggest the club are unhappy about the way he plays - why would they be, it's exactly what they hoped for - straight back up - i can't honestly imagine the board care if the fans are entertained or not.
  19. Well this is why people are questioning your opinion - firstly, because we are not tactically inflexible, and secondly because you have no idea what style of football we'll be playing next year. We have seen this season maresca has been flexible in his tactics according to the way the opposition plays, why would he not do the same playing in the PL? Have an opinion, sure - but be prepared to have the holes in it exposed.
  20. ooh, controversial - i made this observation and sent some posters into meltdown!
  21. What's nonsensical is the endless whining that we'll be rubbish, that we can't play the way we're playing in the prem etc - it's all meaningless conjecture, probably from the same posters who expected us to be in a relegation battle THIS season. It all adds fuel to this arrogant assumption of certain fans that they know better than the manager, that he is blind and naive - it's part of the same problem of fans booing and moaning because they think that we could be doing things better and more effectively than we are. It also permeates the whole notion of entitled leicester fans - if we go up, it seems like there is already a core of fans who expect us to be pushing for europe rather than simply cementing our place in the league - sure we'll lose our fair share of games, but look at newcastle currently 7th and they've lost almost half of their games, brighton only have 8 wins out of 22 matches and actually are pushing for europe. last season everton stayed up with just 8 wins, leeds the year before with 9. Nothing is guaranteed,
  22. Did not see that. Still it was badly handled by all involved.
  23. There's a very fine line between the ability of the best and worse teams as far as actual talent, especially at this level - you have to remember how many players we have that have not played at this level before or are still eligible for the academy. We have a handful of players that are arguably too good for this league, but the majority of the squad are on the first rung of the ladder. It's not such a big gap that we can get away with playing sub-par as we've seen, the games we have won we have generally had to fight for. Look at brum, they were looking good for a playoff spot, the same team a few months/weeks later were nearing the relegation zone - fine line between a squad's floor and ceiling.
  24. I don't think enzo likes jordan blackwell - you can sense it in his tone when he hears one of his questions. JB seems to be hankering for a controversy, enzo looking to play things down
