That's a bit unfair. He's a steady 6 every game occasionally a 7 and a very unselfish, hard working team player. Obviously Fatawu has a dramatically higher ceiling, but there's plenty of time to realise that.

Hopefully we get to see this pragmatism I've heard about and he rolls the dice a bit more now we have our first win and are out of the bottom 3... Otherwise hopefully we scrape survival and get rid of him. All is not lost yet either way.

Fair comment, but that is a logical decision to go for Premier League experience and more of a team player over something of a wildcard at this level based on the managers preference. A very conservative decision that I don't agree with either, especially not against the likes of Everton & Bournemouth, but still understandable. I get what you're saying, but for me; Ayew is a steady squad player/Albrighton replacement at this level, Reid was free, but I'd have only given him a 12 month contract, if anything, Edouard is a pony desperation signing after we failed in our first 3 choices and fortunately only a loan. If he genuinely had these players as his ideal signings then that's terrifying, but if we're just trying to patch together an experienced EPL squad on the cheap (with a points deduction looming over us at the time putting players off) then it just is what it is. If we survive this season then it's done the job and hopefully we stop shopping in the geriatric bargain basement bin. 🤞
