LCFC MEN U21S McSweeney: We’re Controlling Games Now Leon McSweeney believes our Under-21s have started to display much more dominance during matches, leading to a four-game winning streak in Premier League 2. Catching up with coach Leon McSweeney after the Development Squad’s latest victory Monday night’s success at home to Tottenham Hotspur was a fourth straight PL2 win Confidence continues to grow, McSweeney says, as the young Foxes climb the table There’s plenty more to come from this group before the end of the season, he adds A 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at LCFC Training Ground on Monday evening, courtesy of first-half goals from Amani Richards and Logan Briggs, saw the young Foxes move up to eighth position in , a reward for an impressive run of form of late. “We set the players a challenge from the start of January to turn their dominance in possession into the scoreline,” City’s coach explained. “They’ve just taken it onboard and implemented into the games. “The dominance in which we’ve controlled games with and without the ball has been particularly pleasing. The four wins are testament to that. Hopefully it will continue for the rest of the season. Confidence can be a factor at any level, but particularly in the Under-21s More Here - https://www.lcfc.com/pages/en/media-article/mcsweeney-were-controlling-games-now?fbclid=IwY2xjawI2lKNleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHUN2jryeqs_uBMrtmEsk-Qy0RFkT2N5YR61U7pEDWvz0mv9sfe5b97u6Fg_aem_cEPksdXniKmtqJpyDRYWHg -
https://www.leicestercity.news/news/steve-cooper-has-just-landed-his-first-job-since-being-sacked-by-leicester-city/ Steve Cooper lands UEFA job Steve Cooper has been out of work since the end of November and has been linked with a number of Championship jobs in recent weeks. Cooper was linked with the Middlesbrough job last month, with Michael Carrick coming under a lot of pressure after a poor run of form. However, his new job isn’t actually in management. Cooper has just completed his first game in his new role as a UEFA Technical Observer. The former City boss was in attendance at Feyenoord’s home tie against Inter Milan in the knockouts of the Champions League. What is a UEFA Technical Observer? A technical observer monitors football games in depth with the use of statistics and video assistance to enable them to deliver detailed reports on the latest developments in coaching. Their reports are then used among the coaching community and they’re often asked to give their opinions on the Man of the Match which can be published by UEFA. Last year, at the Euros, the likes of Fabio Capello, Martin O’Neil and Rafael Benitez were hired as technical observers and their opinions were used to help select things like the Team of the Tournament.

'Give supporters answers'published at 11:57 11:57 Image source,Getty Images Daily Mail reporter James Sharpe believes those at the top of Leicester City deserve praise for the success they have brought the club, but need to answer the "legitimate questions and concerns" fans have about how the Foxes are being run. Speaking on the latest episode of BBC Radio Leicester's When You're Smiling podcast, Sharpe said: "It's wrong not to give them the credit they deserve for the fantastic times Leicester have had and the amazing things the club have achieved. "Promotion, staying up, winning the title, Champions League football, FA Cup wins - they deserve credit for that and we should always be thankful. "What that doesn't do is absolve them of responsibility and give them a free pass for what has happened since. There's a number of things that have been huge issues. "Getting rid of Brendan Rodgers far too late had a massive impact on the club's future. Fumbling on the replacement and having caretakers in for two crucial games that went badly stunk of a club that lacked direction, planning and a clear vision of what they needed. "They are responsible for a big part of the financial situation Leicester find themselves in. They have to take responsibility for the contracts that have been handed out. "The complete scattergun transfer policy over recent seasons and repeated decisions that have left Leicester in such a tricky financial situation, where they're juggling PSR charges and narrowly escaping points deductions because of loopholes. You wouldn't expect these decisions to be made by a club like Leicester who have done such great things." However, Sharpe's biggest concern is the lack of answers given from the club as to how things have gone so badly wrong. "Leicester's owners were seen as the pinnacle of how to run a football club - we've gone from that to where we are now," Sharpe said. "A lot of the frustration from fans and journalists is their refusal to speak openly about their decision-making. "Give supporters answers to these legitimate concerns. Questions need answering." Curtin Radio · Follow CELEBRATING HIS 84TH BIRTHDAY… Born on 3rd March 1941, Mike Pender (born Michael John Prendergast) is an original founding member of the Merseybeat group The Searchers. He is best known as the lead vocalist on many hit singles by The Searchers, including "Needles and Pins" and "What Have They Done to the Rain?" They were the second group from Liverpool, after The Beatles, to have a hit in the United States when “Needles and Pins” charted during the first week of March 1964. Liverpool-native Pender pursued a solo career after leaving The Searchers and released one solo single before forming his current band, Mike Pender's Searchers. The band perform songs from his many years with The Searchers in addition to all-new material and a blend of popular rock standards by classic artists such as Buddy Holly, the Drifters and Roy Orbison. In his early years, Pender worked at a guitar shop as a day job in between playing nightly gigs with The Searchers. According to Pender, he is responsible for choosing the band’s name. "The band was founded by myself and John McNally. In 1957 John and I went to see the film “The Searchers” starring John Wayne. I was an ardent Western fan and so I dragged John along with me to see it. I take the credit for choosing the name 'The Searchers” and for co-founding the band in its original form". After the Searchers recorded the singles "Sweets for My Sweet" and "Sugar and Spice", Pender took over lead vocal duties from Tony Jackson. During the late 1970s, The Searchers were signed by Seymour Stein's Sire Records and recorded two modernised albums. These included "The Searchers" and "Play for Today," which was retitled "Love's Melodies" outside the UK. The Searchers recorded what would become their final single with Pender, “I Don't Want to Be the One”. Pender left The Searchers in 1985 to pursue a solo career and in 1988 joined an all-star rock band known as the Corporation. They were also known as the "Travelling Wrinklies", whose name was a parody of the popular rock group Travelling Wilburys. That band included Pender, Brian Poole, Clem Curtis, Tony Crane and Reg Presley, lead singer of The Troggs. With The Searchers continuing to perform, Pender was replaced by a new vocalist, Spencer James. Selecting a group of talented musicians, Pender sought to re–create the unique sound that popularised The Searchers. Forming the band "Mike Pender's Searchers", they began touring in the late 1980s and re-recorded The Searchers' hits plus 4 new tracks. Various CDs, featuring these new tracks and the re-recordings have been released in various countries around the world. Mike Pender's Searchers continue to book new shows and tour, targeting Britain, Australia, the U.S., the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark and the United Arab Emirates. In 1994 Mike Pender's Searchers were the very first 1960s band to be invited to play on board the QE2 as part of the world famous liner's 25th anniversary celebrations.

I get the feeling that many of the young already despise us older lot blaming us for the pending environmental disaster whilst continuing to use evermore valuable resources and the pollution of the land sea and air. We're all culpable and continue to be so there's very few innocents.

Story of Leicester Welford Road Cemetery has its roots, like many of its Victorian contemporaries, in the urbanisation of the industrial cities. Due to the population growth in Leicester during the industrial revolution there was a desperate need for private and municipal cemeteries. The cemetery was opened by the Mayor, William Biggs, on 19th June 1849. There are many notable local people buried at Welford Road including local business owners, politicians, architects and one of Leicester's most famous women, suffrage campaigner Alice Hawkins. The photograph shows the cemetery chapels before they were demolished in 1958. Courtesy of Leicestershire Record Office. As I am in Ukraine at the moment, I would just like to correct a few lies from the Zelensky/Trump meeting based on my work here in Ukraine—Trump and Vance you are welcome to come visit although I doubt you have the courage to do so. 1) Zelensky showed up in military fatigues as he has done at every international meeting since day one of the 2022 Russian invasion—the second Russian invasion of Ukraine since 2014—to show his solidarity with the Ukrainian soldiers risking their lives to defend Ukraine, and to emphasize he is the leader of a country at war. I didn’t see any similar objections to the non-elected immigrant racist white supremacist Elon Musk showing up repeatedly in the White House in a T-shirt and baseball cap which he didn’t even remove—it is a standard sign of respect to leadership to remove your hat—so don’t lecture Zelensky on how to dress. 2) Zelensky is not a dictator and he is not an unpopular leader who is unable to mobilize his people. I have spent many nights and days in the last few weeks with soldiers heading to the frontlines and talking to them, and none of them have tried to refuse to serve and they were heading into the battle with determination and courage—I salute them and respect them deeply. 3) Ukraine and Zelensky doesn’t have to thank the U.S. or Trump—the U.S. and Trump need to thank Ukraine and Zelensky. This is for two reasons. First of all, Ukraine gave up the third-largest nuclear arsenal in the world voluntarily at the end of the USSR under the Budapest accords guaranteed by the U.S., France, UK, and Russia, giving up several trillion of dollars of nuclear weapons in return for security guarantees for its territorial integrity which Russia has violated and the U.S., UK and France vowed to protect. If Ukraine had kept its nuclear weapons, it would have been one of the most nuclear armed countries in the world and Russia would have never invaded. We, the West, committed to defend Ukraine in exchange for its denuclearization so there is no need for Ukraine to thank the U.S. for keeping its promises. See https://www.armscontrol.org/factsheets/ukraine-nuclear-weapons-and-security-assurances-glance Secondly, Ukraine is defending not just its own territorial integrity but the future of Europe. I have been interviewing people from the Russian-occupied territories the last few weeks and they really do live in a Stalinist prison camp that is unbelievably oppressive. This is what Putin wants to bring to much of Europe and we need to stop him in Ukraine to save our own democratic future, at any price (respecting human rights). In was in Chechnya 25 years ago documenting the same Russian abuses, together at the same hotel with the murdered Anna Polikovskaya, the murdered Natalia Estemirova, and Memorial’s Oleg Orlov who was imprisoned in February 2024 for “discrediting the Russian military” and later released in a prisoner exchange. The difference in 1999-2000 is that we could operate in Russia, under the watchful eye of the FSB (the current KGB). The FSB were staying at the same hotel as us, the ACCA in Ingushetia, and one night I found a few cigarette butts on the floor of my room just to let me know they were watching us. Buy we could go to Moscow, Human Rights Watch had a staff and office in Moscow, and do our work despite the dangers. Since the Russian invasion of 2022 (and long before that), that limited space for activism and civil society has closed down in Russia. There are no more independent journalists or human rights groups operating in Russia and the HRW office has long closed down, and Anna and Natalia and Nemtsov and so many others were simply murdered by Putin. Yet this is what Trump embraces instead of the freedom-loving Ukrainian people, and he has refrained of any criticism of the murderous dictator Putin, instead trying to humiliate the freedom-fighting Zelensky. But Zelensky isn’t humiliated, he stands proud and strong because you cannot be humiliated by people you don’t respect. Shame on you, you twice impeached and felon convicted orange wanna be. You and your republican supplicants do not deserve our respect—I won’t even spell republicans with a capital R because they don’t deserve that honorific. Shame on you betrayers of our American Values. Peter Bouckaert, Senior Director at Fortify Rights PS: many of you have asked how to help Ukrainians. One of the most important organizations is Helping To Leave who rescue people from the Russian-occupied territories. You can donate to them here: https://helpingtoleave.org/en

Well the question was Rodgers or the Board. Of course they were all culpable including the players. But there was enough talent to stay up it still down to the manager to motivate and manage the team he clearly was angry with the board and threw in the towel
-
Still blame Rodgers he had enough of a team to survive but he got the hump and gave up trying.
