There is that side of it too. The culture behind the scenes that we don’t see but get whiffs of. Hopefully a buyer will come in, and with it the change at board level, to decimate down to the player group.

I am glad that this thread has been created, as I mentioned this to my 7yo son to help give context that from bad results… that positive action can soon come of it. I don’t think Russell will be our manager by the time this season closes. I hope(d) it would work out, but I cannot see it clicking for some of these players with more time at it. I hope to be proven wrong. I do also believe that this squad is stronger than the one we finished the Championship season with (minus Jordan James of course). So, I would like to think if a manager were to come in, sure up the defence… adapt the style a little, mixing up playing tiki-taka with direct football, that we will add consistency to our play and get results. Let’s see what happens over the coming weeks.

Tbh, if this comes to fruition this is a solid move.

Not disputing the involvement and influence of those you referenced, mainly responding to where we were when they started and where we are today. I do recall a vision that they had, where they had the ambition of getting Leicester into Europe in 5+ years of the said statement, I think when we were promoted from the Championship. Perhaps other owners would have been visionaries also… but in this instance, this came to fruition and some! Agree on the short timeframe of our downfall as not being acceptable, but back to the topic on point, we have had a clear out of players, trying to out others, and only recently appointed a new manager that with his most recent failures has a point to prove. Let’s hope he does and we can touch back on this discussion at the end of the season once we’ve been promoted back to the Championship.

But we won the Premier League, FA Cup, had multiple European tours… that would not have happened unless King Power came in?! Please prove me wrong. Lowest position… after one game! After the next game we could move up and start the positive journey. I don’t disagree on the drop, the finances and the mismanagement of the club. But we have got rid of some of the deadwood, and high earners, brought in very capable players for the division (with a few more needed) and a appointed a manager that needs to be given time. We needn’t be so emotional after two fixtures where we’ve won and drew, regardless of the opponents. Any way, let’s support Russ and the team, and with more time, the results come in.

We are up for sale, we’ve offloaded a load of players (still needing more) and recently had a flurry of signings. I think things are moving in the direction they need too. No point dwelling on the mismanagement since 2022 now when wheels in motion for change. A buyer will come in, King Powers reign will end (and to be honest, it has been a good tenure when you consider where we were when they acquired us) and the next phase will begin. We are in League One. It is what it is. One game, one point. Let’s support Russell, and understand we are in a transitional period where patience may be required.

This is on point. No manager coming in will want Okoli, Thomas or Skipp to be starters… whilst harsh, is fair. Moving these players on will be desirable but MR will have to make do with the group. In two weeks, hopefully he has a group that offers competition in most positions and some of senior pros that need moving on, moved on.

I know this is just on a fans forum, but whilst not the W or perhaps the performance we wanted… it is still a point on the board and a first real outing for this group to gel. Most teams will be cagey on their first game or two of the season. Still movement in the transfer market will be had, with Soutter, Faes and Mavididi soon to leave… which would suggest at least two players coming in at least. Give Martin time and let’s not go straight into ultra negative, and entitled demands. We will come good.

Great point made by a not so stupid idiot. Maybe the heirachy should see a pattern that top clubs are coming to our academy for our young guns! Fair play to the academy leads bring these youngsters in and developing into assets… just wish for more to grace Filbert Way.

Lock it in. 🔐

We have a number 9! Jordan Ayew really has made it easy for strikers to come in and take that shirt. Less burdensome than being the player after Vardy.
-
It is an odd one, if feels like McCarthy will be first choice with this guy as back-up, a youngster as third choice, meaning Jakub to be transferred out… 🤔

Leicester transfers that thankfully never happened

Troy Deeney wouldn’t have worked out. £35m! -
This frustrates me more than Monga leaving. Monga had more unknowns in my eyes, didn’t really deliver when he played last season… regardless of age, if you play first team there is a level of expectation. Granted those round him were awful, but I digress. Page showed some steel in the centre and it felt he could play a bigger part this season. If he does go, hope it is for more than Monga.
-
The fact we have dropped a division and he still doesn’t make the XI, whether DM or at RB, speaks volumes. The notion of him being considered as being captain feels ludicrous when he isn’t a guaranteed starter as academy graduates seem more likely for minutes over him. For Hamza, and for us, it is time he is loaned away with the best outcome a permanent departure from the club.
-
Only reason I come onto this forum is to check whether Okoli has been seen at an airport, in another location, or some tenuous X rumour, in the hope… that we loan him somewhere at our cost. I check a similar thread for Wout Faes.

I see this as a good move for all parties. He is a little bit of a one trick pony, that a top end Championship or bottom end Premier League team can punt on developing. £20m for his output last season is fair. Good luck to him.

Danny Ings (signing 1 year deal, John Percy.)
jimmy7587 replied to moore_94's topic in Transfer Talk
I can see the point that he hasn’t scored over 10 in a season for a number of seasons, but with service and playing the right level he might do alright. Much better option than Ayew and Daka. I am trying to find the positives! Looking forward to seeing who else we bring in. Said optimistically that we will bring more in! -
As mentioned before, on his day he is very good. Some of his goals have been genuine worldies. But he could be superb. Sadly, a little bit predictable and other teams have managed him accordingly. His output has not matched his hype this season so if we can cash in then it is right to do so. Also, a lot of pressure on him to perform. At the beginning of the season, we had McAteer in the wings (pun intended) to replace him. Not saying McAteer was better, or a consistent performer, but reliable and could rest Fatawu and give teams something different to think about. Hopefully Fatawu can find the right move for his career and become the best version of himself… and move to a big club (where we can benefit from the sell on fee!).

What players will be here next season in Div 1

Ha, is that right?! Perhaps not then! Stick with my viewpoint around a loan, as really want Jakub offloaded. -

This, plus a few frees and loans, would be ok. I would love a new goalkeeper. Someone like Angus Gunn, whom is on a free and needing a first team gig. When we last went down to League One, we loaned David Martin from Liverpool to play in goal and did ok. So a possible loan from the premier league maybe. Jakub really isn’t a commanding keeper. We need to work on creating a spine. -
£50k per week with his contract extended when he was loaned out a couple of years back. Utter madness.

The press conference where Brendan spoke about how excited he was for big investment in the squad the following summer. This for me was a moment where it could have gone in another direction. But fundamentally this showed the disconnect between him and the board, who were looking down the barrel of financial gloom for not delivering what they set out for and budgeted for… European football. Losing Kasper that summer as a keeper and leader was a big one. Replacing him with Danny Ward, as we all know, didn’t go well. More recently, giving Ayew the #9 shirt and believing he would replace our GOAT without any investment just shows how little they respected the Championship.
