  1. I'm not sure if you're aware, but we had around 80% possession, scored a goal and won yesterday? Sure, we were crap and it was far too slow and dull, but I'm sure he's aware of this.
  2. Not sure if you're aware, but for a transfer like this from one of the "lesser" nations where the process isn't quite as automatic, it's actually moving quite quickly. Before applying for the International Sportsperson Visa we'll have had to request a Governing Body Endorsement from the FA. This is where they must have either accumulated enough points or go through one of 3 different appeals processes. There's a standard 15 point threshold which is calculated bases on the players domestic minutes, continental minutes and position of the club they're playing for. If they don't hit this and are between 10-14 points then they appeal to the exceptions panel where they have to argue the reasoning behind the player not hitting 15 points. If the player scores under 10 points then it'll be the Elite Significant Contribution route of which we as a League One squad have 2 slots compared to the 4 you get in the Championship and PL. This all adds time on too. Once the GBE has been granted, the club then assigns a valid Certificate of Sponsorship for the VISA application. The VISA application is then submitted to the Home Office and this typically takes 3 weeks to approve. We'll have gone through fast tracking (which we'll have paid extra for) which then shortens the approval process down to 5 working days. It's not Football Manager and a case of just clicking and him being here, as you well know.
  3. Do you think Bristol City fans have already written Michael Skubala off after losing against a team 2 divisions lower than them yesterday in their first semi competitive game of the season? Or is this more of an irrational hatred of Russell Martin? We had ALOT of posters on here clamouring for Skubala to come here (rightly so, he's good), but do you think we'd have the same levels of ridicule, negativity etc aimed at him if he'd have come here and we'd lost today? Bare in mind, we actually won today too 😂
  4. Some of them make Harvey Price look like Albert Einstein, although I guess that's the same at every club and ours is exasperated by persistent failures and horrific leadership/ownership over the last however many years.
  5. They want every pass to be forward, every time a player gets the ball for them to successfully take their player on and for us to swing inch perfect crosses into the box onto a strikers head for a goal each time. I hope this helps.
  6. Why would you continue to watch something every weekend if you find it "beyond tedious" to watch?
  7. Do you happen to have the lottery numbers, Mystic Meg?
  8. I'm going to make a recommendation Jim, and I know it might be a bit of a bolt out of the blue, but if you find it beyond tedious to watch, maybe don't watch it?
  9. We weren't, but it was a glorified pre-season friendly and the first semi competitive game we've played. It's glaringly obvious where the weak links in the squad are if we're to play this way and we'll need to solve that if we're to be successful.
  10. So many reactionary, over dramatic cry babies on here again today, imagine my shock
  11. It's the first game of the season and it's a cup game, **** me 😂 We're not playing great, no, but we're winning (we never win) and the team will probably have about 6 different players in it come the end of the window. Hopefully Martin seeing Reid, Thomas and Mavididi playing like this in a match situation will mean we don't see them again. We've also got 2 centre backs who aren't comfortable on the ball trying to build out from the back and both probably need replacing. I'd like to see Braybrooke where Skipp is as I'm not sure that Skipp has completed a forward pass since he signed for us, nevermind in this game
  12. McCarthy Joseph Aluko Souttar McFarlane Braybrooke Burns Alves Page Watson Cullen
  13. He doesn't have a clue, and neither does anyone else whinging about it.
  14. Yeah, Mo Salah is a horrific pickup for Trabzonspor
  15. Good signing, good player, sound guy.
  16. Nobody said signing Jordan Ayew for £5mil was good value though did they? Not a single person as we all knew he was shit.
  17. We absolutely do, yes. But that doesn't mean you don't bring in suitable, sensible experience to accompany that. Without the suitable experience to help the younger players develop and to help us see out a long slog of a league season, we wouldn't be flipping the younger players for profit anyway.
  18. He can never EXPECT to play. That's likely been a problem for a little while in that there's been zero competition for places. If he's good enough both in training and in match days then he'll play. I hope he does, he's fun to watch and he's obviously really talented. I actually preferred him as one of the attacking 8's earlier in pre-season as it was refreshing to see someone so direct and comfortable on the ball driving through the centre of the pitch.
  19. Not every experienced player needs offloading. We're not bringing him in with the view to flipping a profit on him down the line. We should be doing that with the bulk of our other signings though admittedly. If you bring someone in with his remit being experience, proven quality, recent promotion experience and renown for being brilliant for team spirit and the dressing room, would paying him the amount you quoted on a weekly basis not be reasonable value were we to be in the PL again at the end of his contract if it were to be 3 years?
  20. But IF we then get promoted this season and his salary remains the same in the Championship where the average wage is higher and he's still competitive both in our squad and the league does that then mean that it's good value? That's if your speculated/estimated figures are anywhere near correct of course.
  21. It was you that stated that the 31 year old was on a big wage, I didn't comment on the amount that he's earning as I don't know what he earns currently or what he'd earn were he to join us. Neither do you. I didn't like the signings of Skipp, Okoli, Ayew or Reid as I don't rate them as footballers, but again, neither of us know what they're being paid so it's all conjecture.
