  1. I think I've probably forgotten more about tactical shapes, variations, defensive shape etc than you know, in all honesty. But I can reply with the same condescending tone absolutely no problem. A team defending in a low block often has very little of the ball and predominantly the low block shifts around 18 yards up and down the pitch throughout the game, regardless of whether they have the ball or not. It's part of how a professional coach coaches a team to defend in a low block. They also often coach the midfield line to operate no more than about 8 yards ahead of the defensive line. A team committed to playing in a low block, especially away against a team that they deem to be vastly superior to them will often stick to this rule regardless of whether they have the ball or not and rely on long, direct passes to either a target man or in the channel for someone fast to run onto. Does this concept compute with you at all? And is this perhaps a concept that we might come up against multiple times throughout the season?
  2. If a team is defending with a low block then they're going to be in a low block whether we play faster and more direct or slower and more controlled. I agree that we should be pressing high to win the ball, but this will mostly result in the opposition clearing it/going long and us winning the ball back that way in our own half as opposed to us tackling them in their own third. There obviously needs to be an element of both in order for us to break teams down that play this way, needing to control the game and then mix up the pace with more tempo and direct passes in certain moments, that way you keep them guessing.
  3. You watched our opening league game and would drop Joseph, Alves and Braybrooke......
  4. Let's just get you in as gaffer shall we? You sound like you could coach them and set them up better than our manager could.
  5. Not really, no. We got the most points, scored 89 goals (the second most) and conceded the least, all with this absolute cretin playing 😂
  6. Which is part of my repeated point. We've only played one game and we've already got people crying about our manager and wishing to be like Sheffield Wednesday.
  7. I'm unsure how you've managed to turn Sheffield Wednesday losing at home into a dig at our manager when we've not lost a game yet 😂
  8. And Yussif Saidu, whilst having never watched him play, has played every season of both his professional and youth career in centre midfield....
  9. "Jack of all trades, master of none" was your sole comment on someone you've never seen play a single minute of football. He played over 80% of his games last season as a number 6 and the other as a CB when their first choice CB was injured. It's akin to saying that Declan Rice is a "jack of all trades, master of none" because he ended up having to play RB for a couple of games last season and has previously played CB.
  10. You've seen one tweet about him saying that he can play as a centre midfielder or a centre back and decided that he's not good enough to play a single position based on absolutely nothing though? haha
  11. I expect that you've watched him numerous times and done some pretty extensive scouting on him then?
  12. If he's comfortable receiving the ball, keeping the ball and manipulating his body properly (the opposite of Skipp) then he'd also solve the physicality aspect of that position too, looks an absolute monster 😂
  13. Did Justin not fancy it at Leeds anymore?
  14. I'm not sure that's the way it works. We'd probably be happy with 10. 11 points after 5 games would be a decent start.
  15. No thanks, he's atrocious on the ball.
  16. Maybe not, but his Southampton team in the season that we both got promoted from the Championship averaged the most touches in the oppositions box per game, most shots per game and the second highest non penalty xG per game. They also had 20 or more shots in 12 of their games with a highest of 31 and over the whole season averaged 19 shots per game. During the same season we had 20 or more shots in 6 of our games with a highest of 24, and over the whole season averaged 16.5 shots per game. This is of course the last time that he managed in England prior to getting sacked whilst in the Premier League, 2 whole divisions above where we currently are. But it's cool, wouldn't expect you to think or research for yourself before commenting.
  17. Nothing is consistent over the course of 2 games though is it? It's not a large enough sample size to be consistent in anything, which is kind of the point.
  18. May aswell stick Sammy Braybrooke and Louis Page in centre back whilst we're at it then
  19. Enough to probably not play him in a position that he's never played in, in youth or senior football.
  20. I'm unsure how that disproves what I just said?
