Les-TA-Jon Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 You've missed Millwall in the 11/12 season - see my post above That was Sven's last game. Then there was 2 or 3 with caretakers. Then Pearson took charge for the 3-0 home win vs Palace. I'm counting losses under Pearson.

Les-TA-Jon Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 I wonder how many times in the league under Pearson we've ever lost by more than 2. I'd be surprised if it's much more than 10. In fact... 2008/09 - 0 2009/10 - 2 - Forest Away - West Brom Away 2011/12 - 0 (1 in the FA cup - Chelsea away) 2012/13 - 0 2013/14 - 1 - Brighton Home 2014/15 - 0 - so far... So that's only 3 league games lost by more 2 goals under Pearson - 4 ever, including the Chelsea game Pretty damn impressive. Especially when you see teams like Arsenal getting spanked at least once a season It's stuff like this that show how good Pearson can be - the spirit, belief and discipline of his team's is pretty high. You don't lose games, by 4,5,6,7, or 8 goal unless you're not fighting for the manager/undisciplined

Pearson lost one game by more than 2 (5-0 vs hull) in 4 months at a poor Southampton side, While at Hull, they suffered two 4-0s and a 3-0 in his first season, and a 4-1 the season after. Not fantastic, but that's still a fairly decent record while at mid/low table clubs.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 By comparison - over the same time period Arsenal have lost (in the league alone) by more than two goals on 8 occasions: 13/14 3-6 Man City 1-5 Liverpool 0-6 Chelsea 0-3 Everton 11/12 2-8 Man Utd 09/10 0-3 Chelsea 08/09 0-3 Man City 1-4 Chelsea

Especially at that level. Maybe we should just leave it at his record at Leicester
Kitchandro Posted 13 May 2015 Posted 13 May 2015 Also we were never thrashed under Holloway, Megson or Allen but that didn't mean we were proper shit and finished below Pearson's Southampton, who did get thrashed once. O'Neill's Leicester got thrashed a bit but never looked like getting relegated. Basically, not getting thrashed is good but it's rarely the thing that makes a difference in terms of getting relegated or not.

Maybe we should just leave it at his record at Leicester Hmm, although with a bit of context, one of which was his first away game after taking charge (2nd game of season), at Millwall who started brightly and were top 6 for the first 6 games (they went top after beating Hull). The second was away at Burnley 7 games later - no excuses there. The third was a dead-rubber, last game of the season match away against Bristol City. The following season, they lost - away again - to Leeds, third match of the season. The match he lost while at Southampton was also away. In fact, the Millwall home game is the ONLY time Pearson has ever lost by more than a 2 goal margin on home soil.

Xen Posted 14 May 2015 Posted 14 May 2015 And Brighton last season? I'm having a mare in this thread.
