ktfox59 Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Its occurred to me following our completion of the Great Escape yesterday, how that it looks almost genius of the club, and how it seems to have gone un noticed by fans of the forum, the fact that the majority of the squad are tied down by long term contracts. Given that the speculation and opinion, for example that Vards was off to or wanted by WBA in January for 5m and lots were offering their services as taxi drivers, it all looks so different now. Now, obviously there will be clubs sniffing around at our club trying to tempt us with offers for players, its now looking fantastic business to get them tied down for a few years meaning if the worst should happen we will be getting or demanding a decent fee and one that truly reflectstheir value The irony and example of this is possibly Robert Huth who we could get for next to nothing. A situation we have found ourselves in, in recent seasons. As an aside. Pre season I posted scepticism at the value and reason we persued the EC deal. Am here to say. Hands up! I was completely wrong. He has been an absolute pleasure to watch a really lovely man and genius wear the blue shirt with enormous pride. Congrats to all.
st albans fox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 We signed DD,MJ,JV,AK onto three years deals last summer. I expect we will deal with extensions on these deals during next season if seems relevant. There are others which are bound to need attention through the next few months. No idea when jeff's contract is up.

But in any case its comforting to have players with sell on value. Most are quite young. Obv not wanting them to move on but its a market place that can put clubs in difficult position should clubs come in or agents hawk their employers around
foxfanazer Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 We seem to have really savvy owners. Not sure they've done anything I'd seriously disagree with. Obviously in hindsight Sven was a mistake but even that was exciting at the time. Bringing Pearson back was a master stroke
