Hitesh Posted 7 September 2005 Posted 7 September 2005 This is just a general comment, but mainly based on an old mate of mine...I Dont like it when people say they are fat! You should be happy for who you are and if you do think that you are fat and unhappy then do something about it. If you dont and still complain well then you only have yourself to blame. My mate was a big guy and he wanted to lose weight but couldnt ever be bothered! He used to sit out in PE and only played in goal for footy! But he kept moaning about it and using his weight to make other people feel sorry for him! Anyway, as long as you are happy about yourself then thats all that matters! You only have one life - LIVE IT!! And onto toasties...i asked for a bacon toastie at the pub today but they looked at me wierdly and said they dont do bacon toasties! So i will make one tomorrow probably!
Guest Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 It wouldn't tell you to, as this is only available in commercial models. Men are supposed to have lower body fat anyway. Women's healthy range is 20% up to 26% - so you are not that far away, even if the scales were more or less correct this time. But it does sound as if you may be at the top end of the range at the moment. Incidentally, it also depends what time of the day you get this measured, in particular whether you have been drinking enough water. This may account for 1 to 2% of the measurement (from experience). Do you have a Tanita? No, it's a Salter ( ? ) scale and analyser. My BMI is normal. My water levels read as low, and I know I don't drink enough, but whenever I drink a lot of water I end up getting bloated. You should be happy for who you are and if you do think that you are fat and unhappy then do something about it. If you dont and still complain well then you only have yourself to blame. I'm training for a ½ Marathon, does that meet with your approval?

As to water drinking, do you tend to drink a full glass (or more) at a time? That would make me feel bloated too! If so, try sipping water slowly throughout the day instead. Keep a bottle of water by your PC and drink a sip every time you post (or something like that)
The People's Hero Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 I drink far too little water and far too much tea. Although tea is kinda made of water. But I suppose the caffeine makes tea a diuretic.

I might even go back to drinking loads of caffeine and sugar based carbonated soft drinks. This healthy malarkey just ins't working.
Hitesh Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 I'm training for a ½ Marathon, does that meet with your approval? Well are you fat and unhappy? If you are, or think you are (and judging by what you say about BMI i dont see that you are) then yes, at least you are doing something about it! And its good that you are doing exercise just for what seems a "fun" event. Plus, reading other posts you say your BMI is normal, well thats all good then and you have nothing to worry about!

Guest Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 Indeed! Im wanting to dig my toastie maker out but ive no idea where it is I'd say it's probably in the last place you used it, but that might not be very useful.

Janx Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 Clever! Try the place where you least suspect it to be! never really understood that one, lets say she thinks of the garden or the bog or under the sofa? Surely its better to go somewhere related to either cooking, toasting or storage of products no longer in everyday use, like cupboards or attic... I bet she will have more luck

I bet she will have more luck True, but saying that I found a kettle in the garage the other day! But thats becuase it was still in a box that we havent cleared since we moved house! So basically, just look in storage space that you might not expect it to be there! But your right Jankers, its just a figure of speech! And it would make sense to look in cooking related areas, but im guessing she has already done that.
The People's Hero Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 It'll be in the last place you look for it. It always is... unless you keep looking for it after you've found it!

Katy Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 Well I put it somewhere before we moved so it might be in the shed (nice thought ) I keep thinking about a baked bean and brown sauce with cheese toastie now and its not good if you cant find your toastie maker. You can apparently do them on the George Foreman grill, but it sounds rubbish and doesnt seal it all in like a toastie maker. NOTE TO SELF:- Must find toastie maker! Edit: How many times can one person say Toastie maker in one thread?
The People's Hero Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 In my student days, I actually lived on toasted sandwiches, jacket potatos and pork pies. Oh and takeaways and beer of course.
Guest Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 I'd like to think I could live on cherry bakewells, but that's another story.
