Sampson Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Levein didn't keep us afloat. He took over with us in the top half of the Championship and was sacked with us in the relegation zone after signing some of the worst players I have even seen in a Leicester shirt. If he hadn't been sacked we'd have gone down to League One 2 seasons earlier and we only stayed afloat because Kelly came in and did well at the end of that season. Tbf, he did do a lot to reform the youth system and you could argue he played a part for no one coming through to the likes of King, Gradel, Moore etc. coming through. But on the pitch he was a disaster.
Fatbloke Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Another thread to lick Pearsons arse. Brilliant. Not sure that a Pearson / arse licking analogy is quite the right wording here !
Dan Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Taylor wasn't in the championship. Pearson benefited from some of sven's signings, Kaspar, nugent et al. Players the likes of Adams and Little couldn't have dreamed of signing. You aren't fooling me with this "I was a Pearson fan" bollocks anymore. Every possible opportunity to have a snipe at him you do. You're saying Adams didn't benefit from some of the players he inherited himself? Sven was a disaster but even a blind squirrel will find a few nuts. He created more of a hindrance for Pearson with his negligence in the transfer market than help. Plenty of average players who couldn't give two shits about the club or earning promotion due to the Premier League style wages they were already on anyway. Pearson did incredibly well to create a team spirit like what we had from what a mess it was when he got here, on both occasions. Unprecedented investment surely you're on the wind-up? Surely?

I put Pearson as our 4th best manager since I've been a fan. I'd hardly call that sniping. That's more like stating my belief that he was a better than average manager. Pearson did well, so did Adams. I think Adams did a bit better given the scenarios faced. But both did well. Investment under these owners has certainly been unprecedented, yes. No other owner in the history of the club has investment as much as these.
seenitall Posted 22 July 2015 Posted 22 July 2015 Martin O Neill Bloomfield Little (who can forget those amazing days at Wembley) Pearson Sven (just imagine NP had been ousted after 13 games of his second season 4 points off the top) The others were generally poor but most importantly we never believed we could do anything under them - the top 5 all gave us belief and excitement (sometimes)
