The Positives

Firstly, I want to start on the point that when Pearson was sacked, I was just as pissed as anyone. At the moment it was totally out the blue and felt unheeded and undeserved, and the next couple of weeks as a result of both this and the seeming total lack of activity in terms of manager recruitment just fed this frustration and angst in the fanbase.

But now, we have a manager, and I feel, so far, there are a couple of reasons to be positive about it:

1) Ranieri seems a good appointment with a decent CV. A lot of people seem to have a problem with his record of sackings and shirt managerial stints but when you scrutinise these posts more closely, you'll see a Chelsea team that came second only to Arsenal's invincibles, and is who lauded by Chelsea fans for his team building, a poisoned chalice that is currently Inter Milan and a Monaco that he took from Ligue 2 to second in Ligue 1, only to be sacked after what you'd have to consider success. Yes he had the financial backings at the club's you could consider Europe's elite, but then that's a totally different world from most clubs.

If you look at how Moyes, for example, did at Everton and is now doing at Sociedad, compared to the disaster which was Man U, or what Rodgers accomplished at Swansea before Liverpool, then they both paint stark contrasts to managing 'giant clubs' and smaller ones, with clubs such as Villarreal we won the UEFA Super Cup, and with Parma he saved them from relegation. Not a bad record and it could well be without the added pressure of a national team (which he can only work with what he's given; in Greece, pretty much fook all) or a giant and given moderate targets of mid-table of upper mid-table he could well turn out to be a success, something that I'm excited to find out.

2) It looks, for now, that we're keeping the backroom staff including Walsh and Shakespeare. This could be key in steadying the ship, and we're maintaining Pearson's legacy of a fantastic sports science facilities and adding to that the philosophy of a fairly successful top class manager. It could come to work even better than Pearson's reign, we simply don't know. On top of carrying on that familiarity, Ranieri has connections to two players that really were the spine of our success last year; Huth he signed gave his debut at Chelsea to, and Cambiasso he used in 22 of the 25 games he managed, minus one incident where it seems Cambi had a mare that would indicate a good working relationship with the successes of last season.

Overall, I can definitely see some potential for progress to be made with Ranieri's appointment, more so than with the appointment of O'Neill or Hiddink, we've got a good team and I can see Ranieri only adding to that, and I doubt we'll see a real exodus or influx, only adding of quality to areas we need it (hopefully CM and CB!).

Just my take on events, trying to revive a bit of positivity! :)

A positive thread has no place on foxestalk! Where do you think you are?

Lock thread and return to the doom and gloom threads that normally spew up on here!

Completely agree, mate. I feel it could be exciting times ahead for City!

Same here what with the players we have the possibility of incoming players and the fact that Ranieri is a decent club manager with loads of experience and connections this could be the start of something rather big for LCFC !!

Like some said now wait for the Negativity Brigade to sink their anti this that into the post !!

I'm feeling confident that we'll register our best ever premier league finish within the next two seasons.

And that should be what it's all about for us fans. Alas for some, it's clearly not.

I'd be surprised if that was the case but we can hope so!

However I can see why some fans would feel anxious of hold reservations after the two weeks, or seeing his managerial record without really looking into it.
