Yeah I guess so mate.

What mountains have you done abroad?

I don’t climb individual mountains, only as part of long-distance trails.

In the States, I’ve hiked in the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada as part of trails, thru-hiked a dozen or so of the lesser known National Trails, and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail.

I also hiked all three trans-Pyrenean routes (GR10 in France, GR11 in Spain, and the HRP high-level route that follows the ridges) from Atlantic to Mediterranean.

By national three peaks I guess you mean Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis? Did them years ago, she I was in my mid-30s, but we did it in just over 48 hrs. We didn't have a driver who stayed as base, doesn't go on the walk. To do it in 24 hrs you need that person to kip whilst you do the mountains, so that you can kip in the car. Obviously you need torches too, you be walking in some dark, though if you do it in high summer, which makes a lot of sense, you can be in transit between Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, which can take 4-5 hours (on the plus side, you pass through Glasgow whilst it's dark and you're sleeping).

Personally, I think the drive time is as difficult to manage to do the three in 24 hrs as the walking; unless you're a top fell runner and can get up and down in a couple of hours.

That’s exactly what I mean by logistical nightmare. The people I’m doing it with think we can drive ourselves but I’m really not up for that!

You really can't. At least not responsibly. The drive is at least 450 miles and both Snowdon and Scafell are not near major roads (Scafell especially - the most direct route probably adds an extra 40+ miles drive through b-roads and lesser roads; the route nearest the motorway means going across other peaks and is a bit of a hike) So say 8 hrs driving (allowing for moderate traffic) leaves you 16 for walking.

That’s my point. I’d rather pay someone to do it so I can get some kip.
