Frank to be Posted 6 October 2015 Posted 6 October 2015 Top bracket: Vardy, Mahrez Next bracket: Kante, Drinkwater Next bracket: King, Albrighton, Schmeichal, Morgan, Okazaki, Dyer Next bracket: Huth, Jeff, Ulloa Next bracket: Inler, RDL, Simpson, Kramaric And the players in the bottom bracket aren't even that bad. What a great squad.
shen Posted 6 October 2015 Posted 6 October 2015 Look in the first half at Stoke at how lost we looked without Albrighton and how much better we looked when he came into the side in February, I just don't see King having that kind of importance in the team. Look at how much less Schlupp was exposed at full-back compared to De Laet with Albrighton in front of him tracking back while Mahrez didn't. Look at some of the fantastic deliveries he played in on Saturday, including a brilliant one where he beat 2 players and Schlupp just couldn't quite reach it and one where Okazaki messed up the connection and Ulloa would've probably buried it. Look at his crossfield balls and the way he perfectly compliments our quick-paced counter-attacking side, while King spent the second half at Arsenal slowing the game down too much and negating a lot of potential counter attacks. I like King, he's been a great player for us over the years, but I'm just not sure he's a player for this current team and this current system, whereas Albrighton is one of the most indispensable players to the way we play along with Vardy and pretty much any time in 2015 where he hasn't played we've just not looked the same team. King has been a great player for us over the years, but personally I'd say he isn't even close to being on par with Albrighton in this current set-up since he came into the first team in February time. I wouldn't attribute the Stoke first half to the absence of Albrighton. After all, Albrighton was in the team that scored 0 and conceded twice against Villa during his time one the pitch, a match you'd bet your bottom dollar he was keen to impress in! Inler and the system we deployed in the first half of both games are probably more accurate reasons for those displays. It's interesting that you highlight Albrighton's resurgence since his return to the team in February. Do you know who else enjoyed a run in the side during that same period? You guessed it, King, with that all-important winner against West Ham which started the amazing run, lest we forget. I am in no way disputing Albrighton's suitability or King's 'unsuitability' in our current system, nor that Albrighton is a nailed on starter in most games, but King has proven again this season that he is a very dependable player with his winner against a strong West Ham (he likes scoring against them doesn't he?) in the cup. He was everywhere that night.
bluebeau Posted 6 October 2015 Posted 6 October 2015 I agree 100% with you Countryfox, your choice & the order listed. I have to say that I have been impressed with all of the players this season, with one exception...........................Inler.
