deep blue Posted 18 February 2016 Posted 18 February 2016 Going 4-4-1 is often the go to formation when down to 10 but often plays into the 11 man team advantage. Arsenal were always likely to break us down with just vards and no other attacking threat. Me being the tactical genius that I am...... I would have gone to a 3-5-1 or even a 3-4-1-1 so that we still had a chance on the break and getting a little more support up top. No to plan my starting XI for the dog and duck, training went well tonight, few selection headaches....... I had similar thoughts at the time, and would have been tempted to go 3-4-1-1, keeping more or less the same formation but with just Morgan, huth and fuchs at the back. This would retain the outlets and attacking threats. It would leave the wings exposed, but we had already been playing v narrow and leaving the wings open. A big ask on the defensive players, but no harm in asking them to play out of their skins to give it a go, and to make conservative changes if it didn't appear to be working.
Grewks Posted 18 February 2016 Posted 18 February 2016 Criticizing the Gray sub is quite funny given the clearance he made from our own box....a position i don't believe mahrez has ever been in.
Loggy88 Posted 18 February 2016 Posted 18 February 2016 Can't criticise Claudio's decisions in the game, they all made sense, a crap referee and a silly mistake by Wasyl cost us. But we will bounce back!
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 February 2016 Posted 18 February 2016 I said during the game I'd have done what Claudio did. So I don't knock him. The loss was due to three things: The ref itching to even things up Daft Simpson giving him the chance to Wasa thinking he was playing American football... It wasn't due to Ranieri's tactics imo.

Personally I'd have gone wes was and huth as a three with albrighton and Fuchs as wing backs making it a 5 most of the time but still having three cm with one having more of a license to support caddy. Not knocking what CR did at all. It's fine margins, was composes himself and we gain a point. That could have happened with whatever system we implemented. Just would have liked to have seen us have more of a threat going forward so that arsenal had to at least think about defending rather than att v def for 35 minutes
