GaelicFox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Betfred pay out on Leicester title triumph BY MARK LANGDON 5:30PM 3 APR 2016 BACKERS of Leicester with Betfred are in seventh heaven after the firm paid out on them winning the Premier League title yesterday following a vital 1-0 victory over Southampton at the King Power Stadium. Captain Wes Morgan grabbed the only goal of the game to put leaders Leicester seven points clear of Tottenham and just 4-11 to be crowned champions for the first time in their history. It was enough for Betfred to call it all over, although boss Fred Done has been wrong before - when Manchester United were pipped by Arsenal in 1998 and Manchester City in 2012. However, Done said: "It will cost me a million pounds. I want those punters to get their dough now and I am delighted because Leicester have been an absolute breath of fresh air.” Leicester’s last five wins have all been by a 1-0 scoreline and they have accumulated 16 points from the last six matches despite scoring only seven goals but at this stage of the season substance over style will do just fine for Claudio Ranieri. Twelve more points will definitely finish the job but that would require Spurs to win each of their last six matches so there should be even more margin for error from a run-in that sees Leicester head to Sunderland on Sunday followed by home dates with West Ham and Swansea. Things get tougher after that with road trips to Manchester United and Chelsea with a home clash with Everton sandwiched between, although it is debatable as to whether Spurs or Arsenal have enough about them to take the race to the final few weeks. Bookmakers have estimated an industry payout of anywhere between £10m-£50m with small-staking punters inching closer to life-changing wins as Leicester moved a step closer to defying ante-post of 5,000-1 to win the title. Tottenham are 6-1 and Arsenal, 11 points back on Leicester with a game in hand, are 13-2 for a comeback title success which is looking increasingly unlikely as the Foxes hold their nerve. Bet365 rate Leicester 5-2 not to win the title, while they are 3-1 to finish at least seven points clear of the chasing pack. The same firm are 8-11 the champions eventually finish with at least 79 points - a figure the front three can all still reach. Manchester United moved back to within one point of Manchester City in fourth after a 1-0 victory over Everton with Anthony Martial the goalscorer. United, who head to White Hart Lane next, are 2-1 with Coral to finish in the top four.
WJH Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 I wish I put money on Leicester winning the league I'm still trying to comprehend how somebody had the audacity to do this bet in September on the first place. I'm going to the something erratic once the season finishes like Wales winning the Euros or Leicester winning next seasons Champions League.

Wales at 50-1 in euros is exactly 100 times more likely than leicester were to win the league this year back in August 2015 ! That's mental mind boggling !!!

That's mental mind boggling !!! It's crazy. Still can't believe the Foxes will do it. But I have to accept as Arsenal I am extremely disappointed we've blown out best chance in years but Leicester have been the better, consistent side. Of this there is no mistake.
