Bert Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 Leviens Thoughts On The Match - http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~714776,00.html
Hitesh Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 So we need to change the emphasis to make sure we are hard to beat first and then, with the quality players we have got, we will worry more about playing entertaining football. "When it comes right down to it, no matter how entertaining you are, if you don't get points then the confidence will suffer. We will get more confidence from the point that we got here than we will from being brilliant against any number of teams and not getting the points. I like that attitude! Get points then concentrate on entertaining. But i think that by getting the points first the entertainment will come naturally. I also like the end bit where he says: "You can entertain and get points - and that is our intention. But if we are only doing one of them and it is not getting us points then I have to do something about it." Something different and i can see him actually doing something about our league postition! And here is the whole interview for you lazy folk: Craig Levein says a point was a fair return for his side's efforts following Leicester's 0-0 with Wolves at Molineux on Saturday afternoon. Chances were few and far as both teams worked hard to cancel each other out. Mark de Vries and Joey Gudjonsson went close for the Foxes, while Rab Douglas denied Wolves striker Leon Clarke with a fine save. And speaking after the game, Levein confirmed that he was happy with the resilience his side had shown on the day. He said: "We probably got what we deserved . We have been coming off after matches a lot recently and saying that when we drew we should have won and when we got beat we should have won or drawn. "We weren't great at Cardiff on Tuesday night, but we deserved to get something out of the game. "I did an exercise with the players during the week were we looked at every single match that we have played this season. In every one of those we have had more possession, we have outpassed and have had more shots on goal than the opposition. But we went into the game in 15th position in the league - so obviously something is not right. The fact is we have lost too many goals. "We needed to start again on a different platform and that platform was being hard to beat. We have played some great football so far this season but we haven't got what we deserved from it. So we need to change the emphasis to make sure we are hard to beat first and then, with the quality players we have got, we will worry more about playing entertaining football. "When it comes right down to it, no matter how entertaining you are, if you don't get points then the confidence will suffer. We will get more confidence from the point that we got here than we will from being brilliant against any number of teams and not getting the points. "We defended well today and we concentrated a lot better than we have done in previous matches. "You can entertain and get points - and that is our intention. But if we are only doing one of them and it is not getting us points then I have to do something about it."
cisono Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 To both get points & entertain, you presumably need to score before they do (to get the 3 points) and then (while not conceding goals) attempt to score more (whether successfully or not)? So far, we've been missing some goals in the equation
rossporterlc Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 nice chunk of information there Hits i like the way levein thinks, success IS entertaining

Northants Fox Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 To a point, it's even true! Yes it is, build confidence first results will follow
Scow Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 You lot try sitting through 90 minutes of anti-football and call that entertaining.
Northants Fox Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 You lot try sitting through 90 minutes of anti-football and call that entertaining. I've seen a lot of bore draws myself
cisono Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 You lot try sitting through 90 minutes of anti-football and call that entertaining. No the match certainly doesn't sound entertaining... I don't think I would feel entertained if I'd watched it!!! but perhaps looking at the points increasing might be... (eventually)
Anish Posted 18 September 2005 Posted 18 September 2005 I'm with Scowy on this one. Seconded. Levein might say that right things but from the evidence so far he's not putting it into practice. Our goals scored tally is pretty poor - 10 goals in 9 games won't get you anywhere in this league.
