Are we basically writing off matches before champions league games?

We have home games after every tie.

Brugge. Burnley

Porto. Southampton

copenhagen. palace

Copenhagen. west brom

brugge. Boro

Porto. man city

so with the exception on man city, that's a not the problem is it. hull we could and should have been ahead and took something from the game, but we looked unfit. That seems to have been rectified now, but liverpool took us to pieces and united took advantage of some school, no nursery school defending.

We do need to change something away from home that's for sure, the back 4 need better protection from open play, and the forwards need more service.

I doubt we would have won the game at the weekend, but had albrighton picked out slimani and made it 1 nil, there fans and players heads could have dropped big time, instead we wasted our golden chance and then handed them 3 goals on a plate.

Still think we will comfortably turn over enough teams at home to finish top 10, but either players still don't want to move to the midlands, even for the Champions and CL football or we didn't show enough ambition in our dealings, we spent so much time and effort handing out 100k a week contracts, yet haven't improved our 1st 11.

We all knew last year was a 1 off, but i'd have loved to see 60 to 80 million spent, on a RB, CB, CM, if it cost us 15-20 million for a centre half then so be it. It was our one chance to maybe show we could stick around the top 6 for a number of years, it may just have been wasted.

Hopefully we are back to our best tomorrow night, follow it up with another home win at the weekend beat copenhagen get a run going, and can go to the bridge and take advantage of them not being fully on it as well, unlike we did this weekend.

I can't disagree with anything you said. Yes we over achieved last year but something has changed and we need to rectify it asp otherwise we could slip back into mediocrity. Everyone has opinions of why and what has changed. For me it started with Walsh. I have this nagging itch that tells me we don't know the real story. I think CR was using his position to over rule Walsh's choices.

Starting with Walsh wanted Guyeye and we got Mendy. a former CR player. We all know he had to plead for Kante to be signed. Otherwise it just doesn't make sense for Walsh to leave with his profile high and just after winning the league. He was in a perfect position to indulge his passion of finding quality players.

What's also difficult to understand is why we didn't strengthen in the area's we all know was needed. we could have got Mane for 30 Mil a proven left sided premiership quality player instead of Musa for a little less.  Mane would have done a terrific job for us in midfield while also chipping in with a few Goals. While Musa warms a seat  The squad is certainly stronger but your right the team is weaker. Simply because we haven't added midfield quality. For me the team is unbalanced and we don't seem to be addressing it. When we're able to impose our game onto teams it's ok. But like Saturday when we can't we're exposed and found out. We're stuck with what we have until January, but your also right in that we need to sign quality players to fill the spaces, not more potential.

If we do that we'll move from a top 10 side to a top 6 side and from there anything is possible. The Owners have demonstrated their willingness to spend so I'm just wondering who or what is holding us back. I think CR is an excellent Manager, We had the best of both worlds an Excellent Manager and a Excellent Scout. Now I'm not so sure.

I disagree, Slimani is clearly a better striker than Ulloa or Shinji. We haven't seen enough of Mendy or Musa to make anything like an educated judgement on their potential to warrant a first 11 slot yet.

Ok, slimani may maybe better than Leo yes, but at the weekend his touch was about as good, and whilst shinji may not score shed loads, his work rate at times last year was key to what we achieved, Heskey was never prolific for us, but what he offered allowed us to have cottee, marshall and super steve, all towards the wrong end of careers score goals, sometimes it's the sum of it's parts.

Is our 1st 11 actually better now? I'd say no, morgan and huth are a year older, kante left, and so far we are struggling to work out who to play up top, that work as a pair.

I'll wager Mendy isn't a patch on kante in terms of the job we need doing, unless we change systems, and Musa, well, i'm inclined to agree with a few on here, that he's an expensive Lloyd Dyer, but hopefully he will prove me wrong.

But him not making the bench at 16 million seems strange, unless I have missed that his wife was of having a baby as well lol

United didn't get lucky, they battered us. We had a good opening 20 minutes in which we should have took the lead but didn't. Our poor defending and inability to defend corners served us right as they took advantage of that. The third goal is laughable as our players - that's professional footballers - aren't even switched on. United took their foot off the gas second half, regardless of Gray's superb goal.

United did not get lucky. That's a blue tinted spectacles theory. United played very well in a 15 min period where we played very very shit.

they got lucky they faced such a laughable attempt at defending.

I thought it was obvious that we're trying to change systems, We needed too as we were to one dimensional and sussed by everyone. Ball over the top for Vardy to score.

If our midfield was strong enough we would really see the benefit of Slimani. But we're not so might have to revert to two up top.

While I agree Slimani has a better goal scoring record than Ulloa I've yet to be convinced his all round game is better. What surprised me on Saturday was how slow he appeared. Equally he didn't look comfortable with his back to goal either, Where as Ulloa can play either way. We'll have to give him a couple more games to see how he develops. Considering his contribution on Saturday Musa or Shinji would have been a better choice. But it's always easy to judge after the game.

Musa must have had words with someone on Saturday to be left out altogether.

In away games we need to use numbers in midfield and width out wide when we have the ball. It's a simple strategy but one that's proven and works.

If we can get our signing right in January then we will begin to see the best of the team.

Who's it obvious to?

We have still started every game 442.

In my opinion something needs to change away from home.

But has the tinker man reputation got cr scared to try something else.
