A case for the defence...

Yes they aren't playing well and yes they are at fault for goals. But lets actually compare them against others over the last 10 games.

We've conceded 17 goals, that's less than Sunderland, Bournemouth, Palace, Hull, Swansea. The same as Stoke and 1 less than Watford and Southampton. Arsenal and Man City have conceded 14 goals over the same number of games.

On the flip side, we've only scored 7 goals, the only team with worse than that is Boro' with 6. Palace have scored 1 more with 8 and Sunderland 3 more with 10.

Perhaps we can spread the love hate around the others as well?

We're not creating enough chances and that's partly because we sit so deep and hive the ball away cheaply. Spurs as an example don't sit so deep because their defenders are comfortable with the ball and their team don't need to dedicate so much of their game to protecting them.

Part of the problem with the attack lies with the defence also imo. When they all just hoof the ball aimlessly forward we can never build any sustainable attack.

If indivudal attackers are struggling we at least have other options to replace them with. We are stuck with the old, creaky backline every single game beucase we have no-one else and their performances are actually getting worse. All four have turned in at least two genuine 1/10 perforamnces in the past four weeks.

The whole team is rotten.

Spot on

Anyone who looks at defenders alone as a source for a leaky defence knows nothing about football

We don't put the workrate in all over the pitch, players have gotten away with this all over the pitch, all season - A change in manager is the 1st step in sorting it

We don't score goals either, this isn't just the strikers fault, it's the fault of the team's workrate & the manager is responsible

Spot on.

Just the presence of Kante, together with the work rate of Vardy made us defend as a team last year. The same back four looked rock solid. Lose the Kante shield and stop defending from the front, and we are back to leaking goals like we did in the Pearson season. In fact, worse than the Pearson season.
