I am not a parent myself but I can understand how parents would want to get on first so they can settle themselves and their kids in, unpack some toys out of their bags etc before the plane becomes really full with other passengers getting on. 

In an ideal world,I would really like my two to sit on a plane for half an hour before we go any where and i'd like to settle down in a cramped seat.But i have enough whinging and shit when we are in the air,plenty of time to get the toys out!
