A little bit of nostalgia

League 1 season was bloody awesome, from beginning to head-thumpingly hungover end. No, scrub that - Scunthorpe away was properly shit.

Proper grounds, scrappy football, cheap pies, shit shirts and (like a Pistols gig) everybody now claims to have been at Southend. Anybody who wanted tickets could get them and nobody lost out because matches were moved after hotels and trains had been booked.

It was a proper football season.

How many of the players can you name? Most of them are fairly obvious but what about:

1) Top row, third from left

2) Top row, second from right

3) Middle row, second from left

4) Middle row, second from right

5) First row, first on the right

2) Robson (Keith?) a winger, ex Norwich I believe

5) Robert Jones, vital goal in promotion season but back up to Lineker and Smith (and behind the legendary Tommy English in the pecking order) meant very few opportunities.

There was also a Hutchinson in that squad but I couldn't match the name to a face.

It's a year or so early for Horner, Bunce and Jobling so had to look up the other two, one rang a vague bell but the other one nothing!

1) I think it's Mark Foran? Scored lots of goals in the reserves, but never made it into the first team

(2) and (4) are, I believe Bunce and Horner, but not quite sure which is which.

1) Mark Forster - close

2) Keith Robson

3) Mark Hutchinson

4) Barry Cliff

5) Robert Jones

The names Hutchinson and Forster I vaguely recall (think Hutchinson was a youth / reserve signing from Villa) but Barry, if you're reading this, sorry mate....

A few years ago I turned this era into a retro PES side hense remembering Robson. My Bob Hazell (arrived shortly after) has to be seen to be believed :- maximum size, maximum strength etc but a deft touch.
