broughtonblue Posted 18 November 2017 Posted 18 November 2017 I own a galaxy s6. Just recently when on holiday abroad I used the Wi-Fi in the bars I visited. Now I've started getting notifications that I'm connecting to various tv's, mostly sony ones. And I get a picture of a remote control on my screen allowing me to change channels, volume or even turn the tv off. I actually tried it one night and turned off the tv in the bar I'd visited the previous night next door. How can I stop this or have I been hacked. Can't find anything in my phone's settings and I don't even get the option to connect it does it automatically It also happens when on 4g as well.
VLC86 Posted 18 November 2017 Posted 18 November 2017 My only advice would be to change it for a real phone, hope this helps.
StanSP Posted 18 November 2017 Posted 18 November 2017 uninstall or disable the Peel Remote TV app The notifications properly started pissing me off.

This was disabled but not sure if I did after the issues ( memory clouded by holiday booze ?) I will monitor it now. Did you have exactly the same issues?
Kopic Posted 18 November 2017 Posted 18 November 2017 Peel remote is playing up on my s6 too, recently every single time I put my phone on charge, when I take it off again peel remote is open, but only displaying an advert. I've just learnt to live with it as my contract is up in January.

I don't know about connecting to other TVs but it kept connecting to the one I had at home and I don't ever remember setting anything up to sync the TV and phone together. I hate having too many notifications on my phone and this one was constantly there. Most annoying thing is, in the app it doesn't even look like you can turn it off or disable syncing up to your own TV. Happened on my work phone too so I disabled it off that and haven't had a notification since.
