On the subject of women’s football...

 

Do we have any experts on the forum that could tell me how the salary cap works in WSL 1 (and presumably WSL 2).

 

I understand it’s restricted to 40%, but the wording in the rules doesn’t say ‘turnover’ - it says “gross annual operating budget”.

 

That to me sounds like the big clubs like Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea could ‘invest’ sums that would count towards their budget, giving them a dominance on the pitch... like is evident in WSL 1 this season.
