60 years since the Munich Air Disaster

[NorthfieldsFox]

Love them or loathe them Manchester United have contributed so much to football down the decades , Today is the 60th anniversary of the Munich air disaster.

My dad saw them play the Busby Babes and said they would have ruled the world given a few more years, england also suffered from this disaster as Duncan Edwards was never truly replaced he said

I remember the fearsome “red army” marching into our city in the 70’s and 80’s they were a serious firm , but one that had it with you Fair and square. Personally their away end in filbert street was always packed and always sang for the full 90

its fashionable to hate them , sky tv and whiskey nose created a monster , but back in the day they were no different than most large metropolitan clubs

they call their lost players at Munich the flowers of Manchester , well in this corner of Leicester this morning I raise a mug of tea and hope they rest in peace

RIP

Wasn't Edwards supposed to be absolute quality? I've heard people say he could have been a true United great.

I don't mind Man Utd. I prefer them over Man City.

Good God some of the replies to today's tribute on Man City's Twitter account make for depressing reading.

You not seen what our Algerian 'fans' are like on social media? We're already there I'm afraid.

These new Man City "fans" annoy me.

I can have a good chat with people that used to go Maine Road. When I lived in Manchester I used to meet people that didn't even bother going anymore because of how the club is now.

100% on Saturday I'll end up right near their fans as usual - the ones that stand next to the away end and just shout "youre shit" all game not even looking at the match. Ergh.

Duncan Edwards must have been one helluva player, went into a corporate suite when we played them and got talking to the stewards about him during a tour and it was sad there is little or no footage of the guy, typical though some Utd "fans" didn't have a clue who we were talking about. Had the same thing at Leeds talking about John Charles and some of their supporters were equally oblivious though he was long retired before my interest in footy. Had the wouldn't fit in an all time Leeds team and asked the guy if he had seen him play or even heard of him, guy did concede though when I pointed out Charles was picked in an all time Juventus 11 as a centre forward and a centre half which takes some doing
