Thracian Posted 19 October 2005 Posted 19 October 2005 How many heroes must have lost their sparkle last night. I was surrounded by youngsters in the West Stand, many of em possibly making their first ever visit to the Stadium to view the very best team in Leicestershire. They made up the biggest crowd of the night in the Championship, bigger even than Wolves, and what an opportunity for the club to add to their aura and to win over supporters for a lifetime. If I were a manager my main focus would have been on making sure we won the match and in a manner those kids would never have forgotten. I'd have probably got young Chambers in - someone they could identify with - or played an outrageous 2-3-5 system. Anything to have made the night one to remember for excitement. What happened in reality was that we had a tired old team playing increasingly tired old predicta-ball and raising their game only for the last few minutes - in football terms the shortest orgasm in history. We never threatened to do anything special. It was one long stunned silence around me in the second half and the biggest chant was "what a load of rubbish" at the end. How much will it have cost the club in terms of future earnings? Perhaps not too much because, to some extent, kids are a captive audience and are limited to how much they are likely to want to travel. But I know this. The sooner there's another Kids for a Quid night the better and this time the manager, directors and staff should make sure they take the chance to apologise - on the pitch - with stirring, exhilerating football. Lets hope Gold-Smith's available and that Chambers has stuck the proverbial fingers up at his doubters. Hopefully it will be a much better occasion.

Bert Posted 19 October 2005 Posted 19 October 2005 Well said the team let alot of people down yesterday yep, every single person that is connected with the club was let down by the players (except Hammond, Dublin and Big Rab) yesterday

frenchy_lcfc Posted 19 October 2005 Posted 19 October 2005 I think the people who where really let down last night where the little kids. Imagine there faces when the final whistle went. How dissappointed they must of been!

Tell you what Thrach, you make serious and credible points and you make me smile aswell Maybe we should have a players paid a Quid game? YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH Thrach i ve always been a fan of paying the players wages on the pitch at the end of a game when they`ve played poorly, and the money is counted in crisp £50 notes, but then it would take all night Hey Ben, another who thinks more of elvis than de lump. Ben, Are You Lonesome Tonight?
