That, to me, indicates that several of those selected weren't really fit enough to fully compete in a third game. Should Puel have heeded this and refreshed the team more, or would that have weakened the quality too much? It's a difficult question to answer. Ideally he should, but who are the fatigued players and what alternatives do we have? From summer 2016 and 2017 we've got a really imbalanced squad, with a lot of big money on unsuitable players and we didn't really have squad depth before that (it was a core of 14 players that won us the league). Say it's Mendy and Ndidi, you've got Iborra and Silva, who haven't really justified being here. Albrighton? Diabate or Ghezzal, the former a development signing, the latter yet to really start firing. Vardy? Iheanacho, who gets a hard rap but isn't really a line leading striker or Shinji "no goals in 382 days for club or country" Okazaki. Maddison? Not really another number 10 at the club, you're shoving someone like Okazaki or Ghezzal in there.
CosbehFox Posted 31 December 2018 Posted 31 December 2018 First of all, I thought Cardiff were very good for a team at the bottom. No leaders on the pitch for us was the real factor. What the hell Ghezzal was doing before their goal. Similar Maddison hitting a penalty same direction as he’d previously missed. The goalkeeper does his homework...his technique is all wrong for penalties too
